A total of 12.3% of the vehicles sold by the Renault Group in the first half of the year were purely electric. Electric vehicles accounted for more than 16% of sales for the Renault brand, around 5.5% for Dacia and 76% for Alpine.

As of the end of June, there were 36.89 million New Energy Vehicles in China. This corresponds to just over ten per cent of the total vehicle fleet. The number of Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) in China stood at 25.54 million units at the end of June.

According to Rho Motion, 9.1 million cars and light commercial vehicles with battery-electric and PHEV drives were sold worldwide in the first half of 2025, 28% more than last year. Of these, 5.5 million were sold in China (+32%), 2 million in Europe (+26%), 0.9 million in North America (+3%) and 0.7 million in the rest of the world (+40%).

EV sales rose 53% to 74,653 units in India in the first half of the year. However, not every carmaker profited. Tata Motors sold 14% fewer cars (28,453 units) compared to the same period last year. BYD and BMW, on the other hand, doubled their EV sales in India.

A total of 31,946 electric cars were newly registered in France in June. That is 4.6% less than last year. Also, 12,048 new plug-in hybrids hit the road (-14.4%). Overall, in the first half of 2025, BEV registrations in France fell by 5.2% and PHEV registrations by 31.9%.

The Traton Group sold 1,250 electric vehicles worldwide in the first half of the year, around twice as many (+107%) as in the same period last year. The MAN Truck & Bus brand accounted for 800 electric sales (+238%), Scania for 220 (+103%), International Motors for 180 (+3%) and Volkswagen Truck & Bus for 50 (-42%).

84,956 electric cars were sold in in the first half of 2025 – an increase of 138.4 per cent compared to the same period last year. The share of electric vehicles in the new car market rose from 7.7 to 17.4 per cent. Around 20 per cent of electric car sales were accounted for by the domestic manufacturer Togg.

When one thinks of Nayax, images of contactless card readers on coffee machines, snack vending kiosks, and laundrettes come to mind. Now, the company is applying this experience to EV charging, aiming to simplify payment processes for operators and drivers. “Our main competitor has always been cash,” Carlos López Montero, VP of Business Development at Nayax, told us at the EVS 38 in Gothenburg. “In EV charging, cash was never an option."
