Home to Germany’s oldest still-operating marble-ball mill, a tradition dating back to 1683.
Water from the mountain stream powers the wooden mill, which traditionally shapes pieces of Untersberg marble into smooth, round balls. The craft became a distinctive regional tradition, with marble from the Untersberg massif being used for centuries in buildings and decorative works around Salzburg.
