1984 One of my Italo-Disco faves from that year is another legendary Lino Nicolosi production: Mike Rogers - Just a Story! It is hardly possible to put 80s teenage heartbreak better into a vibe, mood and song, so good, tearjerker-talo. This melancholy was so strong in some Italo tracks which maybe never really made it into clubs back then but today, they can be played by everyone everywhere and you can even buy the vinyl online if you like! Great new world. Footage is from Rimini in Italy 1984, where most of these stories happened that summer.

1983 / 1984 A lovely funky Italo-Disco production with soul and a classy arrangement that stood the test of time: Regina Rogers - Disco Delight! The 8:00 long version on the original 12 inch single released on Smash One Records based in Rome is the version to get! The reissued dub here sounds very much like it. Enjoy!

1982, the year the House music blueprint was made: Electra - Feels Good, another ultimate Italo-Disco classic and a foundational piece of dance music history.

It's a track that bridged the gap between Italo disco and the birth of house music.

This record is crucial in the evolution of dance music.

· A Major Influence: It's not just a classic; it was a direct inspiration for pioneers. The track's iconic synthesized bassline was famously sampled by Jamie Principle and Frankie Knuckles for the seminal house anthem "Your Love" .

· The Sound: Described as an "essential 1982 proto house Italo burner," it's a perfect storm of Italian production flair and the emerging electronic sound that would take over Chicago and Detroit . It became a massive anthem on influential radio stations like Chicago's WBMX .

· The Legacy: Its impact is global, with the track being "caned around the world, from Detroit to London to Rimini and beyond," shaping the sound of countless DJ sets and mixtapes .

The Official Repress (2021): In 2021, Emergency/Unidisc released an official reissue as part of their 40th-anniversary series, making this classic accessible again .

Recorded in 1982 (!) at a John Peel Session, this early version of 's awesome 5-8-6 shows how far ahead they were even before they released the iconic Blue Monday. Released on vinyl in 1986, this gem went under the radar for too long. ;)

1979 space disco classic by THE IMMORTALS called "The Ultimate Warlord" - this timeless banger has been released in many versions, if you hunt down a vinyl copy make sure it features this hard rocking synth bass driven version. ;) For alien nerds - it reminds me of the legendary Southern Television broadcast interruption from 1977 when a local TV transmission was hijacked by the alien Vrillion to convey his warning message to the audience. ;)

Swiss 1986 Remix of the 1982 production for Florence's Xenon discotheque: Xenon - Adventure (Remix), one of those slowly and hard rocking vocoder voice arpeggio italo disco bangers people fall in love with even 40 years later because of their futuristic feel. Played loud, this opens portals into other futures. Try it. ;)

Here is one of my faves from 1983, Richard Bone - Mambopolis, featured on his seminal and already reissued "Brave Tales" album as first track and also on his 12 inch single "Living in Partytown". Daniele Baldelli played it at Cosmic discotheque at all kinds of speeds. ;)
"Richard Bone (1952) is considered one of the founding members of the New York electronic music scene. He began composing songs and improvisational pieces using the very first commercially available synthesizers as early as 1979. The exploration of electronics in underground pop and the new wave sounds of the early 1980s continued until the middle of that decade. At that point Richard's music began to reflect his admiration for the pioneering works of Harold Budd and Brian Eno." discogs

Another stylish and futuristic 1983 synthpop gem is Data - Living inside me. Founded by Norwegian/French Georg Kajanus who teamed up with vocalist sisters Phil Boulter and Frankie Boulter for Data in 1980-81, this is a lovely tune still works today. You can get it at decent prices on vinyl.
