I tried to skip this part in previous years, but this time I couldn’t. Somehow this year hit hard emotionally - I’m totally exhausted - but the best thing is that punk is still a huge part of my life, still keeping me upright.

Here are all 7 releases I put out through my tiny little Brainwasher Records this year. Every one of them is totally different, no trend-chasing - just pure gold to me, same as the stuff from previous years.

Formed in 2023, Serial Experiments hit the ground running with this first EP. Clocking in at 10 tracks in 10 minutes, their sound is a whirlwind of twin vocals, twin basses, and the occasional designer-forged touch that keeps it from collapsing into mere noise. Every riff and drum blast packs a density that’s almost impossible to contain on a single disc. It’s extreme music sharpened to a knife-edge, pushing the chaotic frontiers of 2020s hardcore.

This is music that hits like a meteor over the neon-soaked streets of Tokyo - or a massive asteroid flattening everything in its path. Blood-boiling, frantic, and utterly relentless. Members have already shredded in bands like Gevabow, polynesiankid, Daiei Spray, and Alp$ Boys, their live set is guaranteed to pulverize your eardrums and sanity alike.

Helsinki’s HIGHWAY GHOST crawl out of the fog with Nightmares, a debut LP that sounds like heartbreak recorded in a haunted basement. It’s gloomy, dreamlike, and rough around the edges - the kind of record that makes you want to wander through empty streets or frozen woods. They ride the line between garage punk snarl and post-punk melancholy, like Dead Moon getting lost in a Wipers b-side while the tape slowly warps. There’s grit, there’s reverb, and there’s that unmistakable Finnish flow in every chord. Perfect soundtrack for when love turns rotten and the nights start stretching longer.
