Warum Proteste in Äthiopien oft keinen friedlichen Machtwechsel bringen – sondern das Gegenteil bewirken.

Viele hoffen, dass Proteste oder politische Spannungen in Äthiopien zu einem demokratischen Wandel führen.
Aber: Die Realität zeigt, dass das Regime solche Krisen oft nutzt, um sich zu stabilisieren – nicht zu verändern.

Ein Blick zurück: Die EPRDF verlor ihre Macht nicht durch faire Wahlen, sondern durch interne Spaltung, Druck von unten – und eine neue politische Verpackung.
Doch die Macht blieb in ähnlichen Händen.

Abiy Ahmed hat daraus gelernt – und handelt ähnlich:

Proteste werden unterdrückt.

Opposition gespalten.

Ausnahmezustände ausgerufen.

Reformversprechen gegeben – aber nie erfüllt.

Das Ergebnis:
Keine echte Demokratisierung.
Stattdessen ein Umbau der Machtstruktur, bei dem die Regierung mit „neuem Anstrich“ weiterregiert.

Proteste werden also nicht zu einem friedlichen Machtwechsel, sondern zu einem Instrument, mit dem sich das Regime erneuert und absichert.

Die Ironie: Je größer der Widerstand, desto besser kann das System sich rechtfertigen, härter zu regieren – im Namen der Stabilität.

Solange Machtkonzentration, Repression und ethnische Spaltung dominieren, bleibt ein friedlicher demokratischer Übergang leider unwahrscheinlich.

What will you say if you have been told that you are always responsible for all the things that happen around you?
The concept of self-leadership is not a new thing to talk about but one basic component of this concept relies on taking responsibility.
For example, if you had an appointment with your friend for 4pm, and unfortunately he/she had not been accountable. You probably would be tempered by the fact that you had been ignored, this idea of yours continues to mitigate your confidence. But who is responsible for this particular case? I am sorry to say this but it’s you!!! Remember that in the first place you had agreed to meet your friend….the thing is life is the mixture of good and evil so if you always take responsibility and say I am the one who start things that happen in my life , it will be a great experience.

today i was in my aunt house were my grandmother live together with. it was a good saturday to remember for me i think because it became source of idea for me to write this thought. we talked mainly about ethiopian problems, politics, negative attitudes and behaviors of people. you may say wats the big deal wit this then, my focus was nt on this bt i was shocked when my father rasied an idea and said "why we amharas are not good at busines were as the others are better than us".

i smtimes dnt undrstand when i hear phrases like "they", "those", "we" when we are living in a one bounded territory or one country. As usual the conversation didnt last for good n we were going back to our home and the radio in the taxi was talking abt our famous women athelete, "tirunesh dibaba" zat she gave a birth in atlanta america.....n people were commenting on social media zat she was wrong, zat its nt expected frm an icon like her, and also som people tooked the case as she disgraced her country..bt which country ....thier? us? them? i dnt knw.......
