What an incredible afternoon at the Freelancer’s Café in Berlin organized by us moderated by Sharique Javaid & Megan Kramer at the Berlin Business Institute

We had a packed house with over 30 future founders & freelancers, the aspiring entrepreneurs joining us for a highly interactive session.
From practical inputs on freelancing and business registration in Germany, to small group discussions around real challenges.. this wasn’t just another talk, it was a real exchange of ideas.

The highlight? Attendees got 60 seconds each to pitch their business ideas live and I gave rapid-fire feedback on how they can shape and sharpen their next steps.

Thanks to everyone who made it so engaging—and if you missed it, don’t worry.
Join us for the next Freelancer’s Café on Sunday, August 31st, 4–6pm (free entry)

When I first moved to Germany for my master’s thesis at RWTH Aachen University, I was highly motivated to start my own startup. I visited incubators, pitched ideas, and networked like crazy.
But then I discovered a harsh truth: as a student, I wasn’t legally allowed to start a company. No startup, no freelancing .. only student job. My plans had to wait. Then came family responsibilities, and those dreams were delayed even more.

But today, the system is different. Germany now allows students to register as freelancers and even build startups .. with the right visa and planning. I’m glad to see things evolving, and I’m here to support those who want to take that leap earlier than I could.

If you’re a non EU international student in Germany with a dream, don’t let confusion or rules stop you. There are ways and people to guide you now.
