Press release

EU is funding ScienceMedia as a partner in the H2020 SOLARNET project

Wembach - 04.09.2018
The ScienceMedia Network GmbH located in Wembach is a partner of the SOLARNET project, which aims to support and coordi-nate the activities of the most important European research groups in solar physics. It is also supposed to improve the infra-structure provided to them and ensure that European solar phys-icists have access to the best research facilities and data collec-tions. The SOLARNET project will be funded by the European Union within the Horizon 2020 funding program.
The acceptance for funding of SOLARNET by the European Union is crucial for one of the most ambitious projects currently being prepared in the field of solar physics: the European Solar Tele-scope (EST). Beyond that a new ground-based network of tele-scopes for continuous observation of the sun (SPRING) and sophisticated adaptive optics systems for compensating air turbulences to improve the image quality will be developed.
SOLARNET aims to facilitate the collaboration of over 500 solar physicists across Europe and to give them access to key facilities.
The ScienceMedia Network GmbH will contribute to this cooperation by providing the necessary digital infrastructure. This includes the project web portal, the possibility to organize conferences and workshops using the ScienceMedia Conference Management Tool, and other project management tools.
ScienceMedia thus becomes the central platform for European research in solar physics.
