Even as a little boy, I was fascinated by the alternating black and white keys of an electone organ... At 15, I got my first keyboard, a Yamaha DSR1000 with synthesizer functions and at 16 I got my first "big" synthesizer - a Korg 01W/FD - you might know some sounds from this one from many songs by Phil Collins. With this synth and an Atari 1040 ST, I discovered my love for programming sounds and
making music (with Cubase), which drives me even today. Over the years, I've built up a small collection of synthesizers: a Yamaha CS1X, Yamaha CS6X, Yamaha MM6, Emu Xk6, Korg M50, Korg M3 Expanded with Radias Plugin, Roland AX Synth, Alesis Micron and, at the moment, I'm testing Alesis iDock with Synthapps running on my iPad. Beyond that, I have a diverse collection of VST-Instruments, such as Steinberg Halion Sonic, Native Instruments complete, 7 Elements, etc...
Since the year 2009, I've been playing the keyboard in the rock/pop coverband "Mr. S and The Lotions" and we've become quite successful in the local Rhinehessen region. But somehow, just playing cover versions and recreating sounds just don't give me the "kick" that I get from making my own music. That's why I started a solo project on the side: "1MP-homestudio" - the 1MP stands for "OneManProject". What style or genre could fit synthesizers better than one inspired by the likes of Schiller or J.M. That's why I set up a little private studio with the following hardware:
Apple Mac Mini / Core i5 / 4Gb / 500 GB
M-Audio Projectmix i/0 DAW Controller and Soundcard , firewire
Yamaha HS80M Monitors + Stands
Korg M50
Korg Micro X
Korg M3 Expanded ( 256Mb Sample Ram, Radias Plugin)
Alesis Micron
Roland AX Synth
Yamaha MOX6
Yamaha TG77
Alesis iDock with iPad
Yamaha E-Gitarre
Steinberg Cubase 6.5
Steinberg Seuqel 3
Steinberg Halion Sonic
Steinberg Halion 4
Vanguard VSTI
NI Komplete 7 Elements
Eastwest Voices of Passion
4Bay Raid 6TB for backups
I'd love to take my solo project and make it into a "1MP & Friends", working together with different musicians on some new and creative titles so if you're interested just get in touch with me via the contact form. Maybe more might come out of it and maybe not - what matters is just getting together and having fun. But no matter how much fun I'm having and how ambitious I might be, music is still just a hobby and not my "real job" - which will always have a higher priority for me :-)
