I honestly left this apartment viewing feeling embarrassed, angry and deeply disappointed. 💔

I arrived for my appointment before another woman, but when the landlord came downstairs, he chose to take the white woman who arrived after me upstairs first. When I reminded him that I had been waiting longer, his response was basically, “It doesn’t matter.”

The way he looked at me, spoke to me and treated me throughout the viewing made me feel extremely uncomfortable and unwelcome.

Was it racism? I cannot say what was in his mind. But as a Nigerian living in Germany, I know how it felt to be treated differently because of how I looked or where I come from.

And the sad part? I actually liked the apartment and was ready to provide whatever documents were needed. He told me he would get back to me… and he never did.

I’m sharing this because I know I’m not the only person who has experienced something like this while searching for accommodation in Germany.

The struggle to find a flat in Germany is REAL 😩🏠🇩🇪

At this point, I honestly understand why people keep saying “the demand is higher than the supply.” There simply aren’t enough affordable apartments for everyone looking, and you can really feel it when you’re actually out here searching. 😭

You see a flat you like → you apply → you wait → no response.
Or you finally get a viewing, only to realize that hundreds of other people are also interested. 🥲

And when you’re searching for a home for yourself and your children, the pressure is even greater. You just want somewhere you can call HOME, but every day it feels like another struggle.

Honestly, apartment hunting in Germany is becoming a full-time job on its own. 😩

Because let’s be honest, when you’re a vlogger, travelling isn’t just about enjoying the view… you’re thinking: “Wait, let me record this!” “Take a picture!” “Hold on, I need a video!” 😂😂

Sometimes I wonder if I actually travelled or if I just went there to create content. 😭😂

One thing I’ve noticed in our culture is that some people assume that if you live abroad, you automatically have endless money. There can be constant requests for financial help today for one thing, tomorrow for another.

What can be frustrating is that sometimes, even when you help from your heart, the effort isn’t appreciated. Instead of gratitude, people may feel that what you gave was too little.

Living abroad doesn’t mean life is easy or that money grows on trees. Many people work hard, pay bills, support their families, and make sacrifices behind the scenes.

A little appreciation can go a long way. Helping should come from love, not from pressure or entitlement.
