🎉Happy 70th birthday to the European flag 💙⭐
🇪🇺 The European flag was first adopted by the Council of Europe in 1955, long before it became the symbol of the EU. The flag was designed to represent unity, completeness, and harmony among Europe’s nations.
✨ Why 12? It’s a symbol of completeness: think 12 months in a year, 12 hours on a clock. The stars are not country symbols: the design was picked because it wouldn’t need to change with shifting borders or new members. Decades later, the EU embraced the same flag.
