“The Times They Are A-Changin’”. It’s not a difficult task to look to lines from songs for self-definition when you are working with music on a daily basis. Obviously, music formats, settings and consumer behaviour have changed since Cargo Records Germany was founded in Wuppertal in 1998. We here at Cargo are aware of the opportunities and challenges such change brings. However, two things have never changed for us: the irrevocable fact that we love music and the slogan that has characterized our attitude and artwork almost from day one: We deliver the goods. After two albums on Sacred Bones, Gloria de Oliveira returns with her third full-length, ‘The Lying Swans’, now on La Double Vie. It’s a record where darkness reveals as much as it conceals, tracing the uneasy space where grief lingers and joy starts to come back into focus.
