SPEkTR are releasing their new EP through Strange Aeons Records, the label I co-own with my buddy Andreas.

The EP is a concept work where guest vocalist Ustumallagam from the excellent Denial Of God and The Rite is narrating a story of horror and gloom.

I had the pleasure to mix the voices and drums, as well as do a stem mastering of the EP for vinyl and digital release.

Progressive psychedelic rock with a touch of surf rock. Just really excellent stuff from high profile musicians.

★ NEW RELEASE ★ On October 31st, Strange Aeons Records will unveil 'A Certain Kind of Red' — a tale of horror and anguish in five chapters, born from the unholy alliance of SPEkTR, the Danish masters of psychedelic prog rock, and Ustumallagam, the ghoulish voice of legendary Denial Of God and The Rite band page.

Known for their cinematic and otherworldly soundscapes, SPEkTR have crafted an immersive story where each track is a scene in a fever dream of obsession, violence, and strange beauty. The story unfolds with the intense narration of Ustumallagam whose lyrics entwine seamlessly with SPEkTR’s rich arrangements, adding a sinister new dimension to their universe.

Maunah have yet another single out, taken from the upcoming EP I mixed and mastered for them. Still progressive metal/sludge but a bit more contemplative than the two previous tracks they unveiled.

Check it out with the Bandcamp link on the comments 🎧

~~FINAL SINGLE "THEINAJAU" OUT NOW~~

Delving a bit into our more calm progressive side on this one with some odd time meters and shenanigans before diving into the deep end of some doomy chanting🍄
Once again featuring real handpainted artwork by our very own talented leadsinger and artist, Søren Sol Koldsen-Zederkof.

Please enjoy "Theinajau"! Link below in the comments👇

Comparing a pair of Dynaudio Pro Air 6 I just got with the BM5A I’ve been using the past few years… I think they have the same woofer and tweeter, so I was sure the difference would be negligeable. I was so wrong!

Listening to metal (Morbid Angel “where the slime lives” in this case), the BM5A felt a little bit muddy and constricted (not much) compared to the Air 6, with much more defined cymbals on the Air 6.

Switching to Classical (Mozart’s Requiem) and Dead Can Dance (Aion), the difference became VERY big. The Air 6 are much more open and defined, and a tighter bottom end.

I didn’t want to change because I love the simplicity and sound of the BM5A, but it seems I’ll have to do the switch after all 😍

The monitors are lying down on the pics because I don’t have room to have them both standing at the same time, but I’ll tilt them when the BM’s are gone to further shores.

Vocals recording with NVLVS. After trying many different mics, we picked a simple SM57 for shrieks and a SM7B for growls.

Tonni was extremely well prepared and his timing was impeccable. Nailed 8 tracks of lead vocals as well as double-tracked overdubs in just a few hours 😎🤘

Second day of recording with NVLVS. Final drum track, all vocal leads and dubs, and acoustic guitars done!

For acoustic guitars, we settled on a Furch D19 guitar picked up by a Neuman TLM 102 and Antelope Edge Solo (with the U47 emulation). Really loving the sound so far, looking forward to mixing it.

Using 12 mics for this drums recording session with NVLVS.

The kit is an old Pearl World Series. It sounds pretty great, especially the Toms!
