Arthur Lee started Love with grit, flowers and electric guitars - by the time "Forever Changes" came out, the electric fuzz went acoustic, but the core of it just got amplified.

In an interview Classic Rock: "The music in my head that I had in the back of my head [whistles high to low] – way in the back – I knew I could do the things that I saw The Byrds doing at Ciro’s [...] So, man, you know, I jumped on the wagon because when they left they left a huge following of people here. So I didn’t get my trip from The Byrds, but they was a big influence on the first Love album, you know what I mean? But see, I was hungry, man. I said: “I’ll go around and I’m gonna do this thing until I’m capable of doing my thing.”"

Vinyl of the Day: New Order - Power, Corruption & Lies (Factory, 1983)

Second album of the phoenix band New Order, born out of seventies following the death of Ian Curtis and de facto Joy Division, "Power, Corruption & Lies" is also the band's affirmation. While their first album, "Movement", was still anchored in post-punk, New Order was now finally departing towards what would define the rest of the decade: synth-pop.

Album of the Day: Arcade Fire - Funeral (Merge, 2004)

The band that I have seen the most times in my life; maybe because I was the right generation, or just maybe because Arcade Fire was the most significant rock band of the 2000s. Discovering the force and the fury of "Funeral" in 2004, when the Canadian band wasn't yet a stadium crowder, was mesmerizing in a way that have yet to be equaled since. Again maybe I was the prime audience. Maybe they were also just that good.

Starting this new series of posts highlighting my go-to spots to buy my own vinyls in Denmark, and mainly in Copenhagen where I live.

The obvious one being the go-to place BEAT København V in the V, both edgy and mainstream, it's just one of the most complete record store around. You'll find all vinyls as well as merch, books and a cafe with some showcases around the year.

"Sensational", the second album by Erika de Casier is without a doubt one of the best danish albums of recent years, as well as one of the main pop R&B drops of 2021 - and part of monthly box this December 🎁.

Behind the slick post-Y2K sound of Erika de Casier, is her long-time collaborator Natal Zaks who is part of the collective Regelbau from Aarhus.

It's a group of producers and DJs who have for some years played with retro-modern works based on breakbeat, UK 2-step garage and techno.

Album of the Day: Bob Dylan - Blood on the Tracks (Columbia, 1975)

"Blood on the Tracks" marks the return of Dylan on the critics table, after half a decade in the seventies where his newer albums were arguably of variable quality. For those that hailed Dylan as a sixties figure, its fifteenth (!) album unveils its relevance in the general history of music. "Tangled Up In Blue", what an opening still.

The legendary concept-album, half spoken, half magnificent, is inspired by Nabokov's "Lo**ta" and is revered by all modern pop goldsmiths around the world, and celebrates the pinnacle of the collaboration of Serge Gainsbourg and Jean-Claude Vannier. Influential and essential.

In the summer of 2021, Efterklang went on a week-long residency on the island of Møn - where they recorded their latest album "Windflowers". During that residency called "Sommertræf", the band and guests musicians recorded a session including old and new materials.
