Præsentationen tog udgangspunkt i dokumentaren Nanoplastics: A Threat to Life og rapporten Nanoplastics: A Systematic Risk Analysis for Human Health, Ecosystems, and the Environment, udgivet af ALLATRA Global Research Center.

Hold øje med ALLATRA New York for flere kommende arrangementer i lokalsamfundet.

Rare Quakes, Supervolcano Tremors & China’s Flood Crisis — Earth’s Unusual Week (May 18–24, 2026)

An earthquake in usually quiet Denmark, one of the strongest recent tremors at Italy’s Campi Flegrei, and a rare submarine eruption building floating pumice islands: why did so many anomalies hit at once? At the same time, China faced overlapping quakes, floods, landslides, and mudflows with deadly consequences.

🔹 May 18–24, 2026 chronicle of geophysical activity and extreme precipitation across multiple regions.
🔹 Bismarck Sea: Titan Ridge volcano’s submarine eruption continues, forming floating pumice islands; specialists call eruptions of this intensity there extremely rare (once every several hundred to thousand years).
🔹 Europe & beyond: noticeable tremors in Europe, strong seismic events in Turkey and Peru, and a rare earthquake on Zealand in Denmark.
🔹 Italy: a major tremor and seismic swarm at the Campi Flegrei supervolcano.
🔹 China (Guangxi): two shallow M5.2 earthquakes in Liuzhou’s Liunan District about 21 hours apart; epicenters ~0.6 miles apart; swarm activity with aftershocks up to M3.6, reported by the China Seismic Network.
🔹 China’s impact: at least two deaths and nearly ten thousand evacuated in Guangxi; widespread rainstorms across multiple provinces, rivers above warning levels, and as of May 20 floods and landslides killing at least 22 with 20 missing.

Nanoplastics: Hidden Connections and Emerging Risks | Conference in the European Parliament

Recording of the conference at the European Parliament in Brussels

On February 24, 2026, an international expert conference titled “Nanoplastics: Hidden Connections and Emerging Risks” was held in Brussels, Belgium. The conference was dedicated to the issue of micro- and nanoplastics, invisible pollution that is increasingly affecting the environment, human health, and global natural processes.

The event, held under the auspices of Member of the European Parliament Ing. Ondřej Knotek and in close cooperation with the ALLATRA Global Research Center, brought together leading scientists, experts, and political representatives to open a constructive dialogue on the risks and possible solutions.

The opening part of the conference emphasized the need to broaden environmental and climate discussions to include the factor of micro- and nanoplastics, which are now penetrating the air, water, food chain, and the human body. A call was made for a systematic approach, interdisciplinary cooperation, and an open dialogue between science, politics, and the public. The issue was presented not only as an environmental problem, but also as a health, social, and ethical one.

The first expert block focused on the nature of micro- and nanoplastics as a new global factor. The discussion highlighted that these particles are capable of circulating within the biosphere and penetrating living organisms. Findings were presented demonstrating their presence in the blood, organs, and even in reproductive tissues. Micro- and nanoplastics therefore cannot be viewed solely as a waste management issue, but rather as a complex physical and chemical phenomenon with potential systemic impacts.

The second block focused on the biological mechanisms of nanoplastics’ effects. Insights were presented on their ability to pe*****te cells, interact with cellular structures, and influence energy processes. The discussion also addressed reproductive health and the possible impacts of long-term exposure to plastic particles. The need for further research, unified methodologies, and standardized protocols for assessing health risks was emphasized.

The third block expanded the discussion to the planetary level. Micro- and nanoplastics were presented as a factor that may influence the water cycle, cloud formation, the exchange of gases between the ocean and the atmosphere, and heat transfer in the oceans. The discussion pointed to possible connections with extreme weather events and disruptions of natural processes. It was also noted that the time window for understanding and addressing these phenomena is limited.

The final block focused on concrete steps for the future. The need to establish unified European standards for monitoring smaller particles, harmonize research methodologies, and strengthen interdisciplinary cooperation between medicine, environmental sciences, and geosciences was emphasized. The discussion also addressed the integration of this issue into EU political and regulatory frameworks, as well as the importance of active public engagement.

In his new video address, Dr. Egon Cholakian examines rapid ocean warming — a phenomenon that is becoming one of the primary catalysts of global climate instability. He draws attention to the fact that behind seemingly isolated weather anomalies may lie a fundamental upheaval in the functioning of the climate system. Due to accelerated ocean warming, extreme downpours are becoming increasingly frequent, and familiar weather cycles are being replaced by chaotic fluctuations.

Central to Cholakian's analysis is the impact of micro- and nanoplastics. These invisible pollutants pe*****te the oceans and atmosphere, distorting the natural heat exchange between water and air. They alter the processes of cloud and water v***r formation, which in turn lead to destructive consequences: giant hail, unexpected floods, and abrupt climate shifts.

But the central question raised by the scientist runs even deeper. In analyzing the temperature records of 2023–2024, climatologists encountered a mystery: in addition to known factors, an unexplored heat source defies existing models. If microplastics merely block the dissipation of excess energy, then what is fueling this hidden heating mechanism?

Dr. Cholakian invites viewers on a journey to the ocean's most enigmatic depths. Research indicates that anomalous heat originates not only at the surface but also in abyssal layers, which sunlight rarely reaches. This suggests the possibility of a fundamentally different energy source hidden within Earth's interior.

The video reveals poorly understood processes occurring on the ocean floor — a realm more enigmatic than Martian landscapes. Perhaps it is here that the answers to the key questions about our planet's climate future lie hidden.
