DJ OR RECORD SELECTOR - I’VE MADE UP MY MIND
Originally, the “disc” in “disc jockey” referred to shellac and later vinyl records, but nowadays DJ is used as an all-encompassing term to also describe persons who mix music from other recording media such as cassettes, CDs or digital audio files on a CDJ, controller, or even a laptop.
A modern day DJ has typically never held or jockeyed any form of disc but has merely adapted the original meaning and form into a setting far away from its original starting point
Therefore, I now refer to my self as music selector. Focusing on the esthetics of sound, record label and musical heritage.
A selector plays and presents a purely analog - and very importantly - an organic form of music. Where there is no room for digital tricks or gimmicks.
A selector intends to present an artist in it’s purest and most intended form. A selector selects and plays rare and highly delicate, well preserved, handpicked records from around the world for the audience to enjoy.
