Hikari is Tivoli Gardens new area, replacing the old Chinatown. The rollercoaster the demon is still around but the area also opened up for 2 more amusements to try. I think one of them is one of those fun houses, though I've not tried.
There's 5 food stalls and 2 shops in the area, though I bought exactly nothing for now as I wasn't exactly hungry (but I may debate buying some in the future). I do like this mini scale version of what Japan could look like (I still haven't visited so I can't speak true if its a good mini scale replica or if its more like how Japan makes replicas of European towns). It of course looks fresh and new and overall its pretty well made. Theres lots of cover for rainy days at least.

The boardwalk project is soon to be halfway through its time with the temporary closure for cars being between May 2026 till December 2026.

Last time we posted about this did Copenhagen listen slightly and the famous Copenhagen benches have now found itself on the boardwalk as well!
Many people were using this on the day we went by and was sitting around on the benches and ledges in either end. It also seems to have gotten greener but this is most likely just due to the fact it has been a good summer so everything could sprout.

The project aims to find out whether to make a permanent closure for cars as the pedestrian walk got too crowded before the boardwalk. I definitely prefer walking up on the boardwalk as too crowded pedistrian path are relatively annoying and with Tivoli it often happened to create big blockages in the foot trafic.
If the boardwalk is a relatively success will there be a contest for street architects to design a permanent fixture.

But what do you think? Have you actually been by since the temporary closure?

Summer is soon over with very few days back and for the coming week it seems its gonna rain, rain and more rain for the land we know as Denmark.

Did enjoy some last moments hanging out at the beach in the last bits of sun.

Walking through the streets of Copenhagen is quite the cozy experience when you get away from all the busy streets. I don't think I've got the same feeling anywhere else in the world I've been so far.

Usually trollhunting is outdoors and most of the times it is free. However some trolls around the world call gardens and museums for their home. In this case we decided to visit Arken Museum in Ishøj (An S-train and a bus/small walk away). The garbage trolls in this case was the exhibition we came for! There was also a small make tour own mini troll workshop for the kids.

The entrance tickets are 150DDK per adult. There are other exhibits than just the trolls. Also about human behaviour.

I've seen at least 2 or 3 different plans inside the hall throughout the year for the upcoming look of Copenhagen Central Station. The hall plans is to split it in 2: Waiting area and shopping area.

With long distance trains back on the board is a renovation highly needed. The new interior is set to be modern and fresh and easy to navigate.

And I also learned that the exterior is preserved, so it can't be touched or updated as many fear this important architectural building would be.

Theres some fun info signs about Central station's history on the inside, though these does not seem to have been translated into English (I may be wrong and they are but the ones I found weren't). It went over the first station in 1847, the second station (Vesterport) in 1864, How king Christian the 10th opened Copenhagen central station when he was a crownprince in 1911 and the installations of the escalators, the tracks being lowered, the shopping hall being updated for the first time and so on and so forth. Basically its not very uncommon for the station to be updated once every 20 years or so.

I'm slightly excited for the update but also very scared. things change and it is gonna be weird for a while.

Copenhagen Cathedral, also named Vor Frue Kirke/Church, wasnt always meant to be a Cathedral. In Denmark Cathedrals are important religious buildings for the royale family, and less of a majestic piece of architectural work (I mean it's still impressive but not what people imagine when hearing the word Cathedral... i guess. Roskilde Cathedral might be closer to what people imagine, but like many other danish churches, very white on the inside).

I've always been fascinated by religious buildings. In most of Europe it was the buildings that got the most funding and as such showed the architectural fashion at the time it was built.

And the the Classicism style was quite popular for a lot of buildings during the 17th to 19th century. On the outside from the main road does the church not look much like a church. It does remind me of the constant towers around the Mediterranean though. from the other streets it is though very clearly a church.

However Copenhagen Cathedral has been a place of royal importance. The current King and Queen of Denmark got married here as the most recent of those events. Which was also the first time in nearly 4 centuries that the Royal family used this religious plot of land for something. 5 danish kings in old history got crowned on this plot and 2 royal marriages. Long before breaking news though.

Usually when one think of churches we think of something ancient and then every once in a while history likes to remind us that not all churches are old. Just the plot of land is.

Nytorv means New Square. The name is on point for it's history.

originally the square wasn't called New Square. It just got the name through common speak amongst the locals as it was a New Square for them. Back then Copenhagen Town Hall were in the place we see the courthouse in today. One of the leading events to why Copenhagen's Town Hall is further down the street today, was due to the two great fires of Copenhagen in the 1700s. After the second great fire did the council decide they needed a new Town hall. A courthouse got built in it's place. A courthouse also made sense at the time, as there was more need for police in Copenhagen (Copenhagen was slightly growing with the new thing called industry).

Its not hard to come by this place at all as its located on Strøget.

Frue Plads Craft market will be going these coming days!
Accidentally stumbled upon the setup as I was walking around the streets of Copenhagen, which made me aware of it.

Its going from Thursday the 6th of August till saturday the 8th of August (so not the whole weekend).

according to the website is it open from 12PM tomorrow till 6PM. Friday and Saturday opens at 10AM till 6PM.

So for people who want to support danish crafters then this market may be for you!
