A new artist on the Ascolta Artists roster: DongYong Noh, a Korean baritone, recognised for his rich, resonant voice and strong affinity for the Verdi repertoire 🎶

His European debut came in 2015 as Rigoletto at Festival Verdi and Teatro Verdi in Italy. Since then, he has built a repertoire spanning Nabucco, Macbeth, Monforte, Amonasro, Tonio and Alfio, with performances across Europe and Asia.

Recent highlights include Kurwenal in Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde with Korea National Opera under Jaap van Zweden and Albert in Massenet’s Werther. In December 2026, he returns to Korea National Opera as Marquis de Posa in Verdi’s Don Carlos.

His artistic achievements include top prizes at the Piero Cappuccilli, Grandi Voci, Germans Pla, Ismaele Voltolini and Vivonne International Competitions, as well as the New Voice Award (Rookie of the Year) at the Korea National Opera Awards in 2024.

A warm welcome to Tatiana Trenogina, now represented by Ascolta Artists!

A leading soloist of the Latvian National Opera in Riga, Tatiana has built an impressive repertoire of dramatic soprano roles, including Abigaille in Verdi’s Nabucco, Lady Macbeth, Aida, Tosca, Salome, Adriana Lecouvreur, Cio-Cio-San in Madama Butterfly and Lisa in Tchaikovsky’s The Queen of Spades.

Her upcoming engagements include the Marschallin in Strauss’s Der Rosenkavalier and Amelia in Verdi’s Un ballo in maschera at the Latvian National Opera, as well as Elsa in Wagner’s Lohengrin at Staatstheater Cottbus.

Tatiana’s international career has taken her to La Monnaie, the Bolshoi Theatre, and major concert halls and festivals across Europe and Asia. Last season, she made her highly anticipated Spanish debut, performing Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony at Teatro Real in Madrid and appearing as the soprano soloist in Verdi’s Requiem at the Auditorio Nacional de Música in Madrid.

A laureate of more than fifteen international competitions, Tatiana has received prizes at the Queen Elisabeth Competition, Maria Callas Grand Prix, Vincenzo Bellini Competition and Renata Tebaldi Competition, among others.

A warm welcome to Finnish tenor Johannes Pessi, the newest addition to the Ascolta Artists roster!
Johannes Pessi

Originally trained as a baritone, Johannes is now entering an exciting new chapter in his career as a tenor. His recent achievements include Third Prize at the Lohja Tenor Competition (2026), Third Prize at the Lappeenranta National Singing Competition (2025), and a semifinalist place at the International Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition.

The 2026/27 season includes important engagements at the Finnish National Opera, with Il Messaggero in Verdi’s Aida and Siegmund in a concert performance of Wagner’s Die Walküre.

A graduate of the Sibelius Academy, Johannes is also a selected participant of the Mirjam Helin Academy.
We are looking forward to this exciting new artistic journey together. 🎶

Christian Damsgaard-Madsen joins the cast of The Shining at Malmö Opera, taking on the roles if Watson/Lloyd 🎶

Following the opening on 22 August, Christian will perform throughout August, September and October, with performances on 22, 26, 28 & 30 August; 2, 4, 6, 12, 19 & 27 September and 4 & 7 October.

Bass Steffen Bruun takes on the role of Wotan in Wagner’s Der Ring des Nibelungen at Det Lille Teater as part of the Copenhagen Opera Festival, appearing in the festival’s innovative alternative version of the Ring cycle. Following today's premiere on 19 August, the production continues through 33 September 2026.

Anders Kampmann and Sofie Elkjær Jensen joined the Sønderjyllands Symfoniorkester for the Skamlingsbanken Concert yesterday.

Set against the landscape of Skamlingsbanken, the concert brought orchestral music into a striking outdoor setting, combining the scale of a symphonic performance with the atmosphere of a summer evening in Sønderjylland 🇩🇰

Puccini’s Tosca at Opera Hedeland! 🎭

August sees three Ascolta Artists come together for Opera Hedeland’s production of Puccini’s Tosca 🔥

Yana Kleyn takes on the title role, with Jonah Spungin as Angelotti and Conny Thimander as Spoletta. The production is conducted by Carlo Goldstein.

The premiere takes place today, 8 August, at Opera Hedeland! 🎭Yana, Jonah and Conny will return for further performances on 14 and 15 August.

A wonderful constellation of Ascolta Artists for Puccini’s Tosca — we look forward to a memorable run at Opera Hedeland!
