Continuing congratulations to the extraordinary young guitarist Niklas Johansen on another spectacular review of their glorious new recording of Castelnuovo-Tedesco's Platero y Yo! It is an extraordinary tribute to all involved in this album's production that some many critics and writers have devoted the time and talents to writing such effusive praise of this project.

WOW! Another fabulous review for Niklas Johansen's complete recording of Castelnuovo-Tedesco's extraordinary journeys of a man and his beloved donkey.

The subtle glories of this recording are found in the intimacy of Johansen's interpretations. It's a demanding works - 28 sketches spanning over an hour - but each requires a sense of control and narrative drama that set Platero apart from most every other work in the repertoire.

Congratulations to the OUR Recordings team for what is truly one of their crowning achievements!

What an awesome musical start to the weekend!

Many, many thanks to Bill Heck and Classical Candor for his thorough and thoughtful review of the JUST RELEASED complete recording of Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco's masterwork for guitar, Platero y Yo. This project has been a true labor of love for the entire OUR Recordings team, especially the extraordinary young guitarist Niklas Johansen and OUR Recordings founder, Lars Hannibal who's played many of these pieces himself.

While the entire album can be streamed here, this is one of those projects that you really want a physical copy of to enjoy the original illustrations by celebrated Danish cartoonist Halfdan Pisket as well as the original Platero poems.

A lovely way to start the week!

Congratulations once more to the Rudersdal Kammersolister on this stellar review from one of the preeminent audiophile publications, Positive Feedback.

Not all composer couples have been either happy or successful but that was not the case with Dmitri Smirnov and Elena Firsova! Their life long love began while students Moscow Conservatoire and only ended when Smirnov died from Covid in 2020. They would also escape the political and artistic repression of the late Soviet regime, (they were both officially censured for "formalism") settling in London in 1991.

The music of both Smirnov and Firsova inhabit a post-Shostakovich sound-world, is meticulously crafted and emotionally powerful. This is an album for all fans of contemporary chamber music.
