Serious congratulations to composer Peter Navarro-Alonso, maestro Paul Hillier, Theatre of Voices and Ensemble Stralo on this stellar review from the Gramophone.

Throughout his catalogue Navarro-Alonso has taken an exploratory/deconstructionist approach to work of earlier composers, including Vivaldi's Four Season and Bach's Goldberg Variations and now, the infamous Gesualdo! For In flagrante delicto, Navarro-Alonso weaves fragments of Gesualdo's haunting harmonies into what is best described as a 'madrigal psycho-opera.' The queasy atmosphere is underscore through the ocassional dissolves into microtonal distortions and slightly altered instrumental sounds, but do not expect hysterics; as in Gesualdo's own music, there are moments of stunning beauty that emerge.

Continuing congratulations to the extraordinary young guitarist Niklas Johansen on another spectacular review of their glorious new recording of Castelnuovo-Tedesco's Platero y Yo! WOW! Another fabulous review for Niklas Johansen's complete recording of Castelnuovo-Tedesco's extraordinary journeys of a man and his beloved donkey.

The subtle glories of this recording are found in the intimacy of Johansen's interpretations. It's a demanding works - 28 sketches spanning over an hour - but each requires a sense of control and narrative drama that set Platero apart from most every other work in the repertoire.

Congratulations to the OUR Recordings team for what is truly one of their crowning achievements!

What an awesome musical start to the weekend!

Many, many thanks to Bill Heck and Classical Candor for his thorough and thoughtful review of the JUST RELEASED complete recording of Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco's masterwork for guitar, Platero y Yo. This project has been a true labor of love for the entire OUR Recordings team, especially the extraordinary young guitarist Niklas Johansen and OUR Recordings founder, Lars Hannibal who's played many of these pieces himself.

While the entire album can be streamed here, this is one of those projects that you really want a physical copy of to enjoy the original illustrations by celebrated Danish cartoonist Halfdan Pisket as well as the original Platero poems.
