When percussion meets organ, the result can be nothing short of electrifying. And in EUphonie I (1980s), Jon Laukvik delivers a work that is as refined as it is rhythmically alive.

Originally commissioned by the legendary organist Werner Jacob and premiered in St. Sebald, Nuremberg, this 9-minute piece blends the two worlds of E (ernste Musik – serious music) and U (Unterhaltungsmusik – entertainment music) into a single, shimmering soundscape. The title “EUphonie” literally means “well-sounding” in Greek — and it more than lives up to its name.

Axel Ruoff is not just a composer—he’s a force of nature. His music is wild, unpredictable, and utterly unforgettable. Once you’ve heard it, there’s no going back.

We first encountered his KONZERT for Percussion Ensemble and Organ (1997) years ago, and instantly knew: Ruoff’s voice is like no other in contemporary music. It’s fierce. It’s visionary. Words simply don’t do it justice.

Last month, Prof. Cornelia Monske brought this monumental work to life in a breathtaking performance—powerful, intense, and deeply moving. The combination of thunderous percussion and the raw, cathedral-like power of the organ will shake you to your core.

Commissioned by the Ministry of Science and Art Baden-Württemberg, this Konzert premiered in 1997 with the Percussion Ensemble Stuttgart under Klaus Treßelt. Its biblical preface from Matthew 24 lends the work an apocalyptic urgency that resonates powerfully today.

We're proud to present our latest music video: Tensions, an electrifying new work by Australian composer and percussionist Joey Eng.

Earlier this year, we invited Joey to write something bold and unconventional for a secret shoot in Denmark. The location? StreetDome—an iconic skatepark and architectural marvel in Haderslev. Known for its spaceship-like design and technical skating challenges, StreetDome is a cult favorite in the Danish skate scene and an unexpected, thrilling setting for a music video.

With his deep roots in both classical percussion and electronic music, Joey was the perfect fit. We asked him to compose a piece for marimba and tape, and the result is Tensions—a six-minute rollercoaster of sound, blending virtuosic marimba playing with a driving electronic tape part. Drawing on EDM genres like jungle, drum and bass, breakbeat, trance, and jazz fusion, the piece explores musical tension and release, echoing both classical cadences and modern beat drops.

The video was produced by Roschkov Media Film- & Medienproduktion, whose surreal editing and kinetic visuals push this project into truly cinematic territory. It’s one of those videos where you watch it and think, “Alright... this idea has been taken.” And we’re glad it was.

Earlier this year, we explored an urban location in Denmark to test its potential for a music video shoot. It turned out not to be the right fit. But as we were leaving, we spotted a fascinating building in the background and decided to drive over without hesitation.

The building was marked 1750 — it was the historic Fuglsang Malt Factory. We reached out to the directors, and to our surprise, we were welcomed inside on the spot. That spontaneous visit became the setting for this new production.

Lin Zhe is a rising talent in the world of percussion. Known for her collaborations with Lang Lang and her role as a jury member at the World Marimba Competition in China, she joined us in Denmark to appear in two music videos featuring music by Chinese composer Heng Liu.

The video was produced by Roschkov Media Film- & Medienproduktion, whose strong visual storytelling adds a cinematic quality to the project.

We’re exhibiting at the Norwegian Flute Festival 2025!

It’s going to be an inspiring weekend packed with concerts, workshops, and a vibrant flute-loving community from across Scandinavia.

Just a few months ago, we also attended the Nordic Piccolo Festival, where Stig Nordhagen's new work Pastorale and Toccata had it’s world premiere. Now, it will have it’s Norwegian premiere this weekend – and we’re thrilled to hear it performed again!

We’re also excited to share that Yujian Zhu will be featured at the festival. In collaboration with Jørn Schau, he has arranged J.S. Bach’s Concerto in E minor for flute ensemble – the first in a developing series of Bach arrangements for flute ensemble.

We’ll bring along a wide selection of sheet music, with a strong focus on Scandinavian composers and contemporary repertoire worth discovering.

Sheet Music Release: Bartók’s Mikrokosmos – Now for Percussion Ensemble

Béla Bartók’s Mikrokosmos is a landmark in 20th-century music, celebrated worldwide for its innovation and educational value. Originally composed for piano, these 153 progressive pieces explore folk influences, tonal experimentation, and complex rhythms.

Now, percussionists can experience this historical masterpiece in a new light. Thomas Aanonlie has skillfully arranged three movements from the final volume, Six Dances in Bulgarian Rhythm (Nos. 148, 149, and 153), for percussion ensemble.

These arrangements are suitable for both music school and conservatory-level ensembles. Each movement can be performed individually or as a complete suite, offering flexibility for programming and performance.

Bravo to Thomas Aanonlie for continuing to enrich the percussion repertoire with masterful arrangements of timeless works. Don’t miss this exciting addition to the ensemble literature—check it out!

Michael Bønsdorf is a living encyclopedia who, for generations, has enriched the world with original Danish music.

Michael possesses a deep understanding of theoretical knowledge, which he seamlessly blends with his own artistic voice. We are proud to present his influential work from 1993 "Hommage à Francis Poulenc”, composed as a tribute to his childhood idol, Francis Poulenc.

This four-movement piece for solo piano spans the full emotional spectrum. Today, the final adjustments were made, and later this week the release will be available to everyone – stay tuned!
