At the most recent percussion competition at the Royal Danish Opera, the obligatory first-round piece was A Piece for Snare Drum by Søren Monrad, performed by all participants. This work showcases the full range of demanding techniques every snare drummer must master to perform orchestral repertoire across musical eras. If you ever plan to audition for a Danish Symphony Orchestra, chances are you’ll be asked to play this piece.

Greenlandic drummer Hendrik Holm (aka DriX) now presents his own interpretation, highlighting both his technical mastery and his personal artistic voice. We invite you to take on the same challenge—share your unique version with us!

🎧 Here is DriX’ performance—enjoy! Captured in a single take, performed on a Pearl Sensitone Steel 14x5” snare drum mounted with a Kalfo calfhead, and played with Vater Goodwood 5B drumsticks. Recorded with H4n Zoom and IPhone Pro Max 13.

We’re thrilled to announce an extra day of filming in August 2026 due to the overwhelming interest! The video production will be led by Roschkov Media Film- & Medienproduktion!

On August 12, we’re proud to welcome David Fernández, a Venezuelan percussionist renowned for his artistry and dedication to contemporary Latin American repertoire.

Trained in Venezuela’s world-famous El Sistema, David has premiered works by composers such as Wei-Chieh Lin, Andrés Levell, and Darwin Aquino. He has appeared as a soloist with ensembles including the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra and the Juan José Landaeta Symphony Orchestra, and performed at major festivals such as the Lucerne Festival, the Latin American Music Festival, and the International Festival of Percussion Venezuela.

Beyond his solo career, David is a co-founder of the Catatumbo Percussion Ensemble, with whom he has won prizes in France, Belgium, and the UK. He continues to balance a vibrant life of performance, recording, and teaching, making him an inspiring addition to our August lineup.

We’re excited to welcome Joey Eng to the August 2026 video production at the new Sugar Factory in Denmark, led by Roschkov Media Film- & Medienproduktion!

Joey (b. 2001) is an Australian percussionist, composer, and educator, winner of the 2022 Warana Concerto Competition, finalist for the 2022 Richard Gill Award, and 2nd prize winner at the 2021 Marimbafest solo marimba competition. He has performed with ensembles including the Western Australian Symphony Orchestra, Perth Symphony Orchestra, Australian Youth Orchestra, and Vienna Pops Orchestra.

As a composer and arranger, his works have been premiered by Defying Gravity and performed internationally, while his orchestral arrangements have featured with the Perth Symphony Orchestra and WAAPA Symphony Orchestra. A WAAPA graduate and 2022 WAAPA Medal recipient, Joey is proudly endorsed by Marimba One (USA).

We’re excited to welcome Hendrik Holm “DriX” to the August 2026 video production at the new Sugar Factory in Denmark, led by Roschkov Media Film- & Medienproduktion!

Born in Illorsuit, Greenland, and raised in Denmark, DriX discovered his love for percussion early in life and went on to study at the Royal Academy of Music Aarhus after completing MGK Holstebro with top marks. He has freelanced with leading Danish orchestras including Aarhus, Aalborg, Sønderjylland, and the Royal Danish Orchestra, while also making his mark as a composer and as drummer in the bands Anarchy Zone (thrash metal) and SKURK (progressive instrumental metal).

Known for his virtuosic skills, humor, and caring personality, DriX is also a Zildjian Cymbals DK ambassador since 2021 and a recipient of the Viggo Makwardt & Wife Veronika Makwardt’s Music Grant.

We’re excited to welcome Nežka Prosenjak to the August 2026 video production at the new Sugar Factory in Denmark, led by Roschkov Media Film- & Medienproduktion!

Nežka is a Slovenian percussionist based in Switzerland, performing internationally as a soloist, orchestral musician, and chamber collaborator. She has won top prizes at competitions including the Italian Percussive Arts Society International Competition, Malletlab, and Marimba Festiva Bamberg, and has appeared as a soloist with the RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra, the Slovenian Military Orchestra, and other leading ensembles across Europe and the U.S.

For this project, she has chosen to commission a new work written especially for her by Swedish composer Daniel Berg — a collaboration made possible with the support of Edition Svitzer, who are covering the commission fee.

We’re excited to welcome Jared Coller to the August 2026 video production at the new Sugar Factory in Denmark, led by Roschkov Media Film- & Medienproduktion!

Based in Northwest Indiana, Jared is an active percussionist, educator, and composer who performs regularly with the La Porte County Symphony Orchestra, Windiana Concert Band, and numerous city bands and theatre companies. He has appeared as a soloist in major works including Creston’s Concertino for Marimba, Beeson’s Prometheus Rapture, and Ford’s Stubernic Fantasy.

Most recently, in March 2025, Jared gave the world premiere of Kjell Roikjer’s Concerto No. 2 for Xylophone and Orchestra with the La Porte County Symphony Orchestra — a landmark event published by Edition Svitzer. A graduate of Valparaiso University and former member of the World Percussion Group Academy, Jared also proudly endorses Artifact Percussion sticks and mallets.

We’re thrilled to have Jared bring his artistry and energy to the production in Denmark — and with just a couple of spots left for August 2026, the question is: who will join him at the Sugar Factory?
