The very last hygge on our lovely Freyja before passing the torch on (to a great new owner, who’s taking her on new adventures and sharing her with lots of kids in need of some vitamin Sea 🌊) . But don’t worry there will be a (smaller) Freyja 2 ⛵️😉

After the big total renovation, years of and our 18 month sailing adventure - we are confident in our abilities and ready for the next chapter 💪 After over a decade in the big city it’s time to move closer to nature 🏔and time to size up a bit! 👐 Sondre’s become quite the “Bob the builder” and me (Oddný) I’m dying to get my green thumbs down in some proper soil and just get some more space to BE!

In order for us to make this dream happen we had to say farewell to Freyja. It’s sad but it’s also beautiful, I think. Letting go of that attachment will open us up for new possibilities. She’s in great hands and will go to a great purpose. And we are better set financially and saving up will take a lot less time 💸 ..as we work our asses off for a few more months here in Cph before embarking on the next adventure!

2023 will be BIG. We hope you’ll stay “onboard” as there is some good picturesque content coming soon 😄 We just need a liiiitle time to get our ducks in a row.. Selling the boat was step 1 step 2 is in progress.. but since this is quite the essay and most of you have probably stopped reading I’ll save that for another post 🤓✌️

Wow, wow, wow – is our response 😃 We put the boat out on dba.dk (purchases and sales between private individuals in Denmark) and within a week we had promised our dear Freyja! 💥

The interest was great and we met some really nice people but when we met Kenneth we just knew he would be her next owner. His plan is to use her as a “healing boat”❤️

Kenneth is a priest that works a lot with troubled youth and he will live on the boat and take kids out on the water, teach them how to sail, how to work with nature and how to connect to nature again.

Freyja was such a healing boat for us as well. Only 6 months before we went on our big journey I (Oddny) experienced a total burn out and you that have experienced that know how long it takes to recover. Freyja, boat-life, nomad life, nature and the sea (among other things) healed me and helped me find my footing again.

So when we met Kenneth, felt his energy, heard about his plans – we felt a lot better about selling our dear Freyja 😌

When we bought Freyja we were as green as they get. We knew nothing about boats, engines etc. and we got taken at advantage of - big time! A horrible experience and quite costly 😳💸 We are no sleazeballs and we sure as hell! did NOT want Freyja’s next owner to have anything but a positive experience as they’d sail her away!

The 🤬 dude that sold Freyja to us back in 2016/2017 convinced us that the engine was all good and that the smoke coming out of the engine was normal and we should just sail (we bought her on land and this is when we picked her up to sail home). The engine broke down on our first sail, as we were trying to sail her from Århus to Copenhagen. When we got home to Tuborg harbour we had a couple of mechanics look over the engine & they were unanimous about one thing - that engine was dead ☠️

And thereby our adventure was postponed a year, as we used all our savings on the new engine 💸

But we have to admit it was great having a brand new engine we could really trust (and knew how to take care of) on our long journey - so all ended well. We did get a tiny compensation from the seller but that was only by threatening with lawyers etc. Some people are just greedy and will take advantage of you 🤷‍♀️🤷 - but we would not!

Here’s Sondre switching out the generator (had gotten tired) and cleaning the engine making it tip top for our new buyer ❤️ Good karma will reward you 🫶

This summer Flóki went from being a dingy cat to a paddle board cat. I don’t know if he enjoys it yet or if he just tolerates it ..as soon as we get close to the pier he’ll say Adios and try to hop on the next boat or land 😄 ..but when when are out 🌊 he just sits calmly on his blanket in the front and says hi to the boats passing us.
I think he's getting a hang on it 😉 It’s aways fun waiting for that moment when the people onboard the boats passing us notice there is a cat on the paddle board 🐈- and they always comment on his cute little lifevest 😍 Our brave little boat cat 💪 (🌧and yes we made it in just before the rain, I think he sensed it was on way - trying to hop to land for shelter)

'Swimming at 5000 m depth 🌊 - Sailing back to the mainland - post 2'.

After 3 days sailing in great conditions - light wind (15 knots ish) sunny and 25+ degrees (C) 🌞🔥..the crew was starting to get a bit smelly 😅 and it was clear it was time for a bath! 💦

The captain had wanted to maintain our good sailing speed the first couple of days ⛵ but on day 3 the wind died down a bit which created a perfect window to jump in 💦

Swimming in 5000 m depth is something else! Just knowing how far down there is & what's bellow?.. You get these butterflies in your stomach as you put your head under and try to look into the great big blue - is there something or someone here? 👀🐳

'Sailing back to the mainland - Post 1'
On this cold winter day (it was actually snow on the ground this morning ❄️ First snow we've seen in 2 years!) ..I figured it would be nice to dream ourselves away to the warmer parts of the Atlantic Ocean 🌞 ..to show you some of the (unsean) pictures from the longest sail we have ever done! ⛵ Starting far out in the great big blue Atlantic - in Sao Miguel, Azores - sailing up North-East to A Coruna, Spain 🇪🇸
On this journey we brought with us two adventurous guests; Silja & Christian. Silja had quite a lot of experience being on the water, though used to being on bigger motor boats on more northern latitudes - but Christian on the other hand had 0 experience. Together we spent 9 days out on the open water as we made our way back up north..

Tell you more about it in the next post 😉

Ready for some time traveling? I'm a bit overwhelmed with all the unposted content we have from our trip 😳 ..but hey abundance is quite the luxury problem - so I think I'll deal 😉

We are heading back to the amazing Azores archipelago - starting on the island Terceira. Here Sondre's friend Kevin hopped on board and together we sailed over to the next island. We had heard from locals that there was this one island in the Azores - we just shouldn't miss out on - the island of Sao Jorge. And what a beauty she was.. The sail over was a slow and steady one. We didn't have to much wind and had to use the engine the last bit. We left in the afternoon and expected to be there the morning after. This was our guests first night sail ✨..and it was a beautiful starry night with bioluminescent algae and dolphins swimming around the boat 🐬 + the conditions were so calm it was easy to get some sleep 😴

Slide 👉 for the journey & in our next post the top places we visited on the island ✨
