Edition·S

Edition·S Edition·S – music¬sound¬art publishes art music for the classical and experimental music scene.

We represent our composers through the publication of scores, parts, electronic media, graphic formats and interdisciplinary expression. TARGET GROUPS
Our main customers and partners are professionals on the global classical and experimental music scene. We work with musicians, conductors, ensembles, orchestras, festivals, record companies, producers, media & technology innovators and art music pr

esenters across all continents. CATALOGUE
Our catalogue comprises more than 2,400 works composed between the mid 19th Century and the present time by Danish composers or composers that are permanent residents in Denmark. Our catalogue includes 20th Century classics such as Carl Nielsen and Rued Langgaard, but also young, experimenting composers fresh from the Royal Danish Academy of Music. MUSICAL PROFILE
We believe in focused artistic selection, strong personal expression, visionary musical thinking and in the power of art music to make a lasting difference for those who experience it. TALENT DEVELOPMENT
Empowering young, talented artists to live a professional life on the art music scene is one of our main objectives and therefore we enter working-relationships with composers from and early age to ensure the talent of future generations. EMBRACING IT ALL
We embrace in principle a composer’s entire artistic output, also when this reaches beyond the boundaries of what is traditionally seen as music. While a lot of composers work in traditional settings with solo, chamber, orchestral and dramatic musical forms, a growing number also drift onto other artistic scenes or come from starting points other than the traditional route provided by an academic education. They work with sound installations, electronic listening music, interactive performance, modern dance, experimental game soundtracks and more. And as the art scene thus changes, as the artists move along, so do we.

How can we ensure that performances of new music reach wider audiences, and that the works can unfold their full potential? This is precisely the question we have been exploring through the project GENSTART.

In 2024, together with Art Music Denmark and Dansk Komponistforening, we launched an open call for GENSTART, inviting applications for funding to develop new concert formats and to reperform existing works.

Most of the selected projects have now been realised, and Art Music Denmark therefore asked three of the participants what the project has meant for them. You can now read much more about their inspiring projects – as well as the purpose of GENSTART – in a new article on the Art Music Denmark website. You’ll find the link in the comments!

GENSTART is supported by the Augustinus Foundation, the William Demant Foundation, and the Hoffmann & Husmans Foundation.

Læs mere om Musikkens Vilkår - Tal, handling & fair practice her: https://fb.me/e/i57dYVY4h – tilmeldingsfrist i dag d. 17. november!

Repertoirestatistikken er skabt i et samarbejde mellem Dansk Komponistforening, Edition Wilhelm Hansen, Edition·S og Art Music Denmark med støtte fra Musikforlæggerne i Danmark. Grafik: Malene Henssel.

Lorenzo Colombo’s performances of Mads Emil Dreyer ’s Repeater Quietus are among the projects included in the Genstart initiative, and now the final event in an extensive performance-cycle is coming up.

The piece was premiered at SPOR festival in May 2024. With the support from GENSTART the piece has since been performed at FOKU Festival, Det Kongelige Danske Musikkonservatorium, Fondation Danoise - Det danske Studenterhus i Paris , Cité Universitaire, Paris, SIGNAL OFF , Trento (IT) and Conservatorio G. Verdi, Milan (IT). The final performance takes place in Stuttgart on Friday 14 November at Digital Kunst Festival, Stuttgart (DE)

Repeater, quietus is an audiovisual piece in which the performer controls and manipulates the sounds of eight small percussion instruments—four singing bowls and four frame drums—each equipped with a contact microphone and an audio transducer. The vibrations captured by the microphones are projected through the transducers, creating eight independent feedback loops.

Genstart is initiated by Art Music Denmark, Dansk Komponistforening and Edition·S and is supported by the Augustinus Foundation, the William Demant Foundation and Hoffmann & Husman's Foundation.

On Friday, José Valente performs ABCDE, a solo accordion piece by Loïc Destremau.

We asked Loïc to share with us how the piece emerged as part of Valente’s doctoral project, the research-driven framework that shaped the composition, and the experiments with acoustics, polyphony, and bellows technique that form the foundation of the work’s distinctive sound world.

We are looking very much forward to Thursday when we open the doors to our Thursday bar and concert evening in collaboration with Second Sound and Dacapo Records 🥳

One of the pieces you can experience is Lasse Schwanenflügel Piasecki ’s Cover me, performed by guitarist Jonas Egholm.

“Cover me is based on a melody I wrote as a child,” says the composer. The piece explores the guitar’s “dark side,” and through alternative techniques, hidden sounds are made audible — like a recollection of memory.

On November 13, we invite you to a Thursday bar and concert evening in collaboration with Second Sound and Dacapo Records 🥳

Experience five powerful works in an intimate setting, including STOP by Nina Dragicevic, performed by percussionist and performer Katerina Anagnostidou.

In this piece, Nina Dragicevic explores our contemporary focus on productivity, acceleration, and the idea that "time is money" — and what this means for the individual, the body, and human relations.

✨ On November 13, we open the doors to our offices at Dacapo Records and Edition·S for a Thursday bar and concert evening curated by Second Sound.

The performance programme features Greta Eacott ’s percussion piece Breathing Exercise - a composition driven by each performer’s breathing cycle, which determines when they play their percussion instrument.

The piece is performed by the staff of Dacapo Records and Edition·S, who step out of their usual roles as office workers to create a polyphonic meditation on the subtle balance between sound and silence.

On November 13, we open the doors to our offices at Dacapo Records and Edition·S for a Thursday bar and concert evening curated by Second Sound. We present a programme featuring five powerful pieces including Sorte Negle by Sandra Boss performed by Jonas Egholm

🎸 Sorte Negle explores the essential role that the nails play for any guitarist. The role of the nails is magnified applying exaggeratedly long artificial and painted nails to the instrumentalist using it to create effects such as bowed sounds, crackling sounds, noisy attacks and sliding figures.
