✨ World Premiere ✨

On 25 September, Ars Nova Copenhagen presents the first performance of Skræl og kød (Peel and Flesh) — a new work by Mette Nielsen, based on poems from Shekufe Tadayoni Heiberg’s collection Frugt og grønne sager.

In Nielsen’s own words:

“The concept of the poetry collection is strikingly simple, and at the same time the poems are full of associations and surprising imagery. My aim is to let the listener experience both of these qualities through my music.”

Skræl og kød (Peel and flesh) uses texts from “Frugt og grønne sager” by Shëkufe Tadayoni Heiberg - a collection of 25 poems about pieces of fruit and vegetables. Each poem also has a drawing and the Latin name of the fruit or vegetable. In the choral work, Mette Nielsen uses 10 of the poe...

Tonight in KoncertKirken, the duo To Stemmer and Second Sound invites you to a concert in the dark hours, where an intense Nordic program guides us from dusk into night, and the imaginative music of Nørgård, Saariaho, Holmen, Frandsen, Lidholm, Aperghis, and Perder accompanies the night in all its facets.

On Saturday 20/9, the same concert programme is performed in Koncertkapellet in Roskilde.

The concert is part of the GENSTART project initiated by Art Art Music Denmark, Dansk Komponistforening and Edition·S supported by Augustinus Fonden, Statens Kunstfond, William Demant Fonden and Hoffmann & Husmans Fond.

Denne uge byder på hele to koncerter fra deltagere i vores GENSTART-projekt!

I 2024 lancerede vi et open call til projektet GENSTART – et samarbejde mellem Art Music Denmark, Edition·S og Dansk Komponistforening. ​​Med projektet har musikere, ensembler og komponister kunnet søge om midler til at udvikle nye koncertformater med fokus på genopførsel af allerede eksisterende værker.

Duoen To Stemmer blev bl.a. udvalgt til projektet, og denne uge spiller de koncerter i både KoncertKirken d.18.9 og i Koncertkapellet d. 20.9., hvor du kan opleve den musik, de har arbejdet på, som del af GENSTART. To Stemmer vil spille musik fra et repertoire, der udforsker celloens varme klang og den menneskelige stemme, og som byder på værker af Kaija Saariaho, Per Nørgård, John Frandsen, Georges Aperghis, Ingvar Lidholm, Kjell Perder og Jexper Holmen.

With his new work Doldrums, inertia, Mads Emil Dreyer steps into the territory of one of the most tradition-laden formats of all: the string quartet. The piece is written for the award-winning American ensembleJACK Quartet and receives its world premiere on September 24 at Pierre Boulez Saal in Berlin.

✨ Today, the Rued Langgaard Festival opens in Ribe (September 4-7) ✨

This year’s festival theme is Danish mysticism, and one of the composers represented with a series of works is Tekla Griebel Wandal, who was inspired by the spiritual movement of Theosophy.

Audiences can also look forward to the premiere of Niels Lyhne Løkkegaard’s 'Rued Langgaard’s Bench' - weaving echoes of Langgaard’s music through three movements scattered across the festival days. 🎶

Vi bakker op om det gode initiativ fra Art Music Denmark, og vi håber, de får mulighed for at bringe bevillingen til Klassisk Lab i spil i det danske musikmiljø. 🎻

Vi kan puste nyt liv i droppet, men vigtigt musikprojekt!

Aalborg Symfoniorkester takkede i sidste måned nej til en særbevilling til ”Klassisk Lab” – et projekt hvis formål var at løfte den klassiske musik i Danmark. Det klassiske musikliv har dog stadig behov for støtte til kompetenceløft, og ideen om et "Klassisk Lab” og de bevilgede 1,5 mill. til dette bør ikke gå tabt!
