Edition·S

Edition·S Edition·S – music¬sound¬art publishes art music for the classical and experimental music scene.

We represent our composers through the publication of scores, parts, electronic media, graphic formats and interdisciplinary expression. TARGET GROUPS
Our main customers and partners are professionals on the global classical and experimental music scene. We work with musicians, conductors, ensembles, orchestras, festivals, record companies, producers, media & technology innovators and art music pr

esenters across all continents. CATALOGUE
Our catalogue comprises more than 2,400 works composed between the mid 19th Century and the present time by Danish composers or composers that are permanent residents in Denmark. Our catalogue includes 20th Century classics such as Carl Nielsen and Rued Langgaard, but also young, experimenting composers fresh from the Royal Danish Academy of Music. MUSICAL PROFILE
We believe in focused artistic selection, strong personal expression, visionary musical thinking and in the power of art music to make a lasting difference for those who experience it. TALENT DEVELOPMENT
Empowering young, talented artists to live a professional life on the art music scene is one of our main objectives and therefore we enter working-relationships with composers from and early age to ensure the talent of future generations. EMBRACING IT ALL
We embrace in principle a composer’s entire artistic output, also when this reaches beyond the boundaries of what is traditionally seen as music. While a lot of composers work in traditional settings with solo, chamber, orchestral and dramatic musical forms, a growing number also drift onto other artistic scenes or come from starting points other than the traditional route provided by an academic education. They work with sound installations, electronic listening music, interactive performance, modern dance, experimental game soundtracks and more. And as the art scene thus changes, as the artists move along, so do we.

On Thursday, 15 January, a concert version of Matias Vestergård, Composer’s Årets Reumert-award-winning horror-comedy-drama LISBON FLOOR is performed.

With two performances at The Royal Danish Opera, Takkelloftet, the story of seven residents in a dilapidated luxury building unfolds, where mold- and fungus-covered faces on the walls push them into a bizarre, comical, and bloody tale!

Looking back on 2025, one of the year’s highlights was our concert evening and Thursday bar, which we hosted for the second year in a row in collaboration with Second Sound and Dacapo Records.

In this video, you can experience one of the works performed that evening by guitarist Jonas Egholm – Sandra Boss’ solo piece Sorte Negle. The nails are the guitarist’s primary tool, and in this piece the role of the nails is enhanced, using them to create noisy, crackling, and sliding effects.

Set beneath a giant flower, audiences were invited into a forty-five-minute immersive experience when Sophie Søs Meyer's and Cecilia Fionas' Ghost Flower Ritual premiered at Copenhagen Contemporary. The music was performed by Athelas Sinfonietta, and the critic from Seismograf praised the piece: “soundscapes and small pulsating figures from four string players and a flute shape a landscape of colors, tones, and movements that melt together – filling the high-ceilinged room with auditory and visual presence.”

Mathias Monrad Møller’s Fruits, is a cycle of works for piano and MIDI files, in which the pianist is invited to freely select MIDI samples, envisioning MIDI as interpretable material.

The pieces are also available as electronic versions only. Listen to Apricot here: https://edition-s.dk/music/mathias-monrad-moller/fruits

Mathias Monrad Møller is one of the new composers included in the Edition·S catalogue in 2025. His music unfolds at the intersection of conceptual thought and sonic experimentation. In subtle ways his works expose the infinitely layered and paradoxical space in between provocation, theatricality and pathos.

Niels Lyhne Løkkegaard’s Colliding Bubbles (surface tension and release) is a composition for string quartet and harmonica quartet, meaning that the members of the ensemble plays harmonica and a stringed instrument simultaneously. Together, the eight instruments together play a subtle game of timbral and harmonic attraction and repulsion; from surface tension to gentle ecstasy.

Colliding Bubbles was premiered in 2023 by Quatuor Bozzini, released as an album in 2024 and last but not least published as a score in 2025.
