Who to Look Out For!
The World Championships are fast approaching, and we take a quick look at some of the standout Scandinavians on the starting list.
Competing on home turf may give the Swedes a slight edge, as many of the obstacles are sourced from Toughest, one of Sweden’s top OCR races.
Maja Wellner has shown true class at the recent Nordic Championships, taking three podiums across the Short, Standard, and Sprint races. She’ll certainly be a tough cookie to beat in Gothenburg.
Linnea Stenson is a strong runner and excels on obstacles. She claimed 2nd place at the Nordic Championships and most recently finished 3rd at the Harbour Challenge in Randers, Denmark. She appears to be in excellent form.
Siri Englund secured 3rd at the Nordic Championships and brings the experience to dig deep on the standard course and keep pushing when it counts.
Signy Karoline Kolstø is the current Norwegian National Champion and a 2024 European Team Race Champion and took 2nd place in the Team Race at the 2023 World Championships—proof of her ability to perform on the biggest stage.
Katrine Leveraas is a true legend of the sport. She was Norwegian Champion in 2024, won the 2024 European Championship Team Race, earned podium finishes at the European Championships in 2022, 2023, and 2025, and came 2nd in the 2023 Team Race at the World Championships.
Ulrikke Evensen has battled injuries, but if she’s fit, she’s a podium contender in any race. Her strengths shine on longer distances—she is the 2024 OCR World Champion (3k & 15k), Spartan Ultra World Champion 2024, OCR European & National Champion, and a four-time National Trail Running Champion.
Henriette Bardrum dominates wherever she goes. She won the 2025 Danish National Championships (400m), took 2nd at the 2025 European Championships (400m), and 3rd at the 2024 European Championships (Short Course). On top of that, she is the 2023 World Champion in the Team Race.
Scandinavia is bringing some serious firepower to Gothenburg this year—expect the battles to be intense!
