Lighters & Compositors – Join Our Copenhagen Team

About Hydralab:
Hydralab is a creative studio based in Copenhagen, dedicated to delivering high-end visual storytelling for film, TV, and commercials.
We value artistic excellence, collaboration, and a supportive work environment.

The Role:
We are seeking talented Lighters and Compositors with a strong visual eye for look development to join our team from now until the end of September. You’ll work on a hybrid animation/live-action feature film and potentially also other exciting projects, alongside experienced artists in our Copenhagen studio. Remote work may be considered for the ideal candidate.

What We’re Looking For:
- Extensive production experience as a Maya and/or Nuke based artist
- Strong sense of visual aesthetics and look development
- Compositors should come with strong VFX experience
- Feature animation experience is a plus
- Great communication skills, and ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Experience working in a boutique-size studio is a plus
- Available to start as soon as possible
- Must have all necessary documentation to live and work in Europe (we do not offer relocation)

Location:
Copenhagen, Denmark (on-site preferred; remote possible for the perfect fit)

Sunit and Thea recently had a great time visiting our amazing team at Hydralab Viborg, who is working hard on bringing the hybrid live-action/animation feature Krølle Bølle to life.
Sunit also gave a presentation for the other creative businesses at Arsenalet.

And speaking of bringing things to life… our character artist, Cæcilie Rahbek, totally blew us away with her mind-blowing Krølle Bølle cake! Every little detail was edible, it looked absolutely amazing, and it was super tasty too. Hands down, the best cake we’ve ever seen.

Cæcilie is hereby the absolute winner of the Hydralab Viborg Copenhagen Cake War!

We are very excited to present our work on “Jul med Astrid Lindgren” - premiering this Thursday in Danish cinemas.
Hydralab co-produced 2 of the short films - “Nils Karlsson-Pusling” and “Ræven & Nissen” - together with Qvisten Animation AS and The Astrid Lindgren Company.

Big thanks to our talented artists for their work on look-dev, miniature building, cinematography, lighting, grading and compositing.

Also a big thanks to Johan Oettinger and our friends at WiredFly Animation, who built the incredibly beautiful sets for “Nils Karlsson-Pusling”.

And last, but not least, thanks to the directors Yaprak Morali and Are Austnes for another great collaboration.

Hydralab is looking for a pipeline supervisor to take over the development of our backend and pipeline frameworks.
Senior level.

Candidate must have:
- significant Python experience
- knowledge/interest in sys admin
- experience with databases, ideally document based dbs
- significant experience with pipeline development, deployment, maintenance within animation/vfx workflows
Candidate must be independently driven, responsible, and motivated to pursue new development projects

Possibility of a leadership role in the future, strong people skills are a big plus, and communication with various departments will be a part of the work.

Looking for open minded candidate with vision, but who is not locked to a specific dogma.

- Candidate will be expected to learn the existing studio frameworks, and help maintain and/or change them
- Plus for knowledge/interest into hardware and computer build
- Plus for Maya plug-in development experience

The role is Copenhagen based.
You are an EOS/EU resident or have the right to work in an EU country.
The position is open ASAP and is not time limited.
