Martin Bay · Studio My work is rooted in the Scandinavian landscape, shaped by wind, weather and changing light. Im a photographer on a quest to capture the nordic light.

I live and work in Klitmøller, in the heart of Nationalpark Thy, where nature is part of everyday life.

September, again.

A few frames from last September — mist, quiet water and the first subtle change in the landscape.

Looking forward to seeing what this one brings.

Some evenings don’t need a dramatic sunset. Low clouds, a fresh breeze, and a brief glimpse of light were enough.

Looking closer.

Sometimes nature stops being a subject and becomes shapes, colour and light.

A small moment of late summer.

A photograph often starts long before I pick up the camera.

Looking at maps, finding small paths and wondering what the landscape might look like in the right light.

Sometimes the plan works. Sometimes the weather changes everything. And quite often, that is where the interesting photographs begin.

Planning the next trip into Nationalpark Thy.

Some mornings, the landscape seems to simplify itself.

Fog removes the distance, softens the details and leaves only shapes, light and small things worth noticing.

A quiet morning, somewhere between nature and the world we build within it.

Two sides of Stavanger.

The walls of Lysefjord and the quiet streets of Gamle Stavanger.

Different landscapes. Same search for light, structure and small details.

When I photograph a new place, I usually start with the obvious view. Then I begin looking around it.

Lower viewpoints, reflections after rain, plants used as frames, rooflines and small details.

Gamle Stavanger is particularly good for this. The white wooden houses create a simple backdrop, while gardens, flowers, old tiles and cobbled streets add layers of colour and texture.

A small study of looking at a place from more than one angle.

Lysefjord is known for its scale.

From the water, I found myself looking closer instead — at fractures in the rock, dark surfaces, narrow passages of light and the traces left by water.

In black and white, the landscape becomes less about the view and more about structure, texture and time.
