Kira Burton is the Founder and Executive Director of Every Mother’s Dream. Born in the Commonwealth of Dominica and shaped by her journey as a mother, she understands the weight mothers carry and how quickly life can shift when families face unexpected hardship. She knows firsthand the fragile line many families walk between stability and crisis, and how often mothers are the ones holding everything together.

Rooted in faith and driven by lived experience, Kira founded Every Mother’s Dream with a vision of building stability not only for her own child, but for families everywhere. She created the organization to provide structured support, practical resources, and long-term empowerment because when mothers are strengthened, children are secure, and generations are transformed.

What began as a personal vision has grown into a federally recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit committed to restoring hope, reinforcing stability, and ensuring that no mother or family has to walk alone. 💚

At 9, she was abused.
At 14, she gave birth to a child who sadly passed away shortly after.
At 19, she was fired from her first TV job — told she “wasn’t fit for television.”
At 22, she faced constant rejection and criticism.
At 23, she hit rock bottom and nearly gave up on broadcasting.
But she leaned into the one thing she did better than anyone else: Connecting with people.
At 32, she launched The Oprah Winfrey Show.
By 35, it was the #1 talk show in America.
At 41, she won an Academy Award nomination for her role in The Color Purple.
At 49, she became the first Black woman billionaire in history.
Today, Oprah is worth over $2.5 billion and is one of the most influential women on earth.
The lesson?
Your past doesn’t define you.
Your pain can become your power.
Keep showing up. Keep building. Keep believing.

Happy International Men’s Day!

Today we celebrate the men who lead with strength, but also with compassion, integrity, and resilience. The fathers, sons, brothers, partners, mentors, friends, and colleagues who show up every day—often quietly—bringing support, protection, guidance, and love in their own unique ways.

To the men who are healing, evolving, growing, and learning to be better versions of themselves… we see you.
To the men who carry responsibilities on their shoulders and still find the courage to push forward… we appreciate you.
To the men who show kindness, patience, and respect… thank you.

May today be a reminder that your mental health matters, your emotions matter, and your presence matters.

Happy International Men’s Day to all the incredible men—your impact is valued and your contributions do not go unnoticed.
