☀️ Those dark spots aren’t imperfections, they’re sunspots. Strong magnetic fields suppress the convection there, so less heat rises from below.
At roughly 3500 to 4500 °C they sit well below the surrounding surface at around 5500 °C. That contrast is exactly why they look dark.
Nothing to do with the eclipse. Still a beautiful thing to catch. 🔥
