Isabela, in my opinion, is the best inhabited island. long white sand beach that starts right in town and which is full of bird life, free snorkeling spots, mangrove trees, fresh water ponds, sand dunes, red crabs on beach, sea turtles laying eggs at night, marine iguanas, surfing, moon lit walks at low tide, plus beautiful sunsets daily. We do Happy Hour on the beach, at my home,Casa Rosada, daily
from 5-7pm at sunset - we also play volleyball and have live music. The drinks are inexpensive 2 X $5 ,is the atmosphere casual The local band Iguanamen of Galapagos play live every evening at 6 pm. Beach volleyball, at sunset, is a tradition. with the local surfers and many tourist enjoy a a friendly game as well. One girl player is required per team per the house rules. All this happens daily ....on the beach..........CASA ROSADAON THE BEACHAT THE END OF THE WORLDONE OF A KIND"La Casa Rosada" is the last house at the edge of a small village on a two mile long beach in Galapagos National Park, Ecuador. This very private villa on Isabela Island has seven bedrooms, six baths, a huge, fully equipped kitchen , a dining room with ocean view, a beach front patio with a hearth and a lava rock garden that is home to a colony of 50 Galapagos marine iguanas, a regulation beach volleyball court and a sundeck with extraordinary sunsets.Isabela provides endless opportunity for exploration, adventure, education, creation and reflection. Dive or snorkel with sea lions, lava gulls, blue footed boobies, Galapagos penguins, green sea turtles, manta rays, dolphins, great frigate birds and flamingos. The village has sand streets, palm trees, grocery stores, restaurants and bars, a sea front park, a Darwin Research Substation, a Park headquarters, a Galapagos tortoise breeding station, local guides with horses, boats and a few vehicles. There is an airstrip for private jets.We can arrange logistics, transportation, housekeeping, guides, boats and cooks. You MAY CHOOSE TO PARTICIPATE IN MANY , few or none of the offered excursions. ALL day trips are EASILY BOOKED A DAY IN ADVANCE, once on Isabela (and all 4 inhabited islands). Day trips on Isabela include; snorkeling with sea turtles, penguins, sea lions, rays, fish, starfish and sharks if you so desire. My personal favorite day trip is to a 40 minute boat ride west to the Tunnels for the incomparable snorkeling PLUS unique geological lava formations, above the clear blue water, of arches , which continue under the water's surface as tunnels - hence the name. Snorkeling near town at Tintoreras is easy and inexpensive. In the highlands horseback riding trips are offered almost daily, or one may choose to hike up, to the rim of Volcano Sierra Negra - Park guides are required. There are newly discovered caves which one may explore in lush green highlands Also, picking your own fruit at a tropical farm is a highlands option. Long free hiking, or mountain biking, 6 km each way, to the WALL of TEARS (Google the history of Isabela. ) is a wonderful day spent on Isabela (car hire one or both ways an option). Fishing and Kayaking can also be arranged. Scuba diving is of course an incredible full day excursion for divers. Our Story APRIL 16, 2019 Traveling to the Galapagos Islands, one leaves with many unforgettable moments. Visitors fly back with unbelievable pictures of the magical creatures that reside in this hidden away paradise. If told to someone who does not know of the Galapagos Islands, they may not believe you as you tell them about the “pigeons with blue feet”, “cats with flippers”, ”boulders that walk”, and our most famous rock, “Lonesome George”. It all began when my parents traveled to Isabela, the largest island of the archipelago. At that time the only way to travel there was in a small fishing boat called a“panga”,with a total horsepower of 50 and every drop of gasoline counted. After the longest boat ride of their lives, they settled down quite nicely at the last house on the beach in a town of 2000, with triplet boys. My mother, growing up in Michigan, and my father, who grew up in the outskirts of Houston, Texas both felt like they had enough of the concrete, automobiles and the advances of progress. Grabbing life by the horns, they were excited to build a family home. Some may argue in favor of an American school with little league and prom night, however, my parent's hearts were set on a new world, a new language, and a new culture. They didn't mind us not learning how to pass standardized testing. While my mom put my dad to work, guitar in hand, entertaining our guests at sunset, she ran back and forth from the stores buying more and more local sugarcane distillation called, “Caña Manabita”, creatin g what is the foundation to the service we provide today. My mom, wishing she had a third hand, and my dad creating “music in the air,” started the humble hostel\bar that they share with 200 marine iguanas. You can take pictures to capture the timeless memories, and bathe in the nurturing sun. However, what we want you to take from your travels is that feeling of complete and utter relaxation when you finally sit down at the end of the day. You can stare out past miles of beach, surrounded by the people you love. This is the moment when your shoulders drop, your breath relaxes and the only sound you hear is the gentle barrage of the ocean waves trampling the sand coast. At that moment I will be there to hand you a drink and applaud you, for we should rejoice, for you have made it to the end of the world, to the origin of life. Your worries are gone and there is no thought of tomorrow. There are just two constants. I am here, and so are you. So if you ever make your way to our little corner of the world and land on the doorstep of our welcoming bar at the end of the beach, our family will be there to hand you a drink and help you remember to slow down, live life, love life, and be happy. Sincerely, the Pink House Family
