Found this pic on my old phone last night, it was taken 6 months after I lost my job in 2008, the global financial crash destroyed the construction industry and I was left with nothing. A week later I put my last money into a studio setup and spent 12hrs a day learning how to make music, sacrificed weekends out, lived on the breadline for years with my partner bringing in our only income.

Believe in yourself !! Sometimes when one door closes another one opens ✌🏻

I really believe the Dunning Kruger effect. I remember feeling I could beat the world with my music near the start of my journey, only to realise a year later that is was pretty terrible.

Coming to this conclusion helped me grow so much as a producer. Don't take it as a negative, look back at it as ignorance. Keep working on your mixdowns, sound design, track arrangements. it will get easier in time.

I often get questioned by new producers how can they get better, quicker. I always say, learn and practice. These things take time. If you love what you are doing it will slowly but surely get there!
