There’s a bogey in my shot 🎥 🐕

For anyone not familiar with film industry terms = there’s something/someone/some dog that is not supposed to be in front of my camera.

"This project is really important, really urgent, and it is an untold story about the Vietnamese boat people and intergenerational issues that the protagonist is facing.”

What exactly are we meant to remember on Memorial day? 🇺🇸

Read my latest article on Medium looking at the origins, memory, war, history, and the need to revise it.

A bit of history worth revising — without losing the stars, stripes, hotdogs or hamburgers.

Have you ever looked down at your food and found it offensive - and not because of a poor quality but because of how it was labeled on a menu?

I'm learning lots this month as part of month and wanted to openly and honestly share my latest learning about where a bánh mì should sit on a menu. Have a read and share.

I was perplexed, slightly ashamed and very…hungry.

There is only one contributor to the documentary that is not Asian-American, and that is Ron Haeberle.

Ron was the US Army photographer who photographed the massacre of Vietnamese non-combatants (civilians) in My Lai on the 16th of March, 1968 and later published the photographs in LIFE magazine. In his honest and open interview, we hear about the power of memory, the optics of war, and how all of the actions of our past affect the racial issues we are facing today.

It’s been a year...no really it’s been a year for the podcast ‘I Am My Own Correspondent’ 🎙🎉🎧

Inspired by the podcast with a similar name, a year ago I began going through my hard drives and social media for the unused interviews and stories that didn’t make the cut to create a podcast with a behind the scenes look of what it is like to travel, shoot, produce alone as my own correspondent.

This anniversary episode is appropriately about lockdown in Bermuda 🇧🇲. Listen to the trailer here and if you want to listen to the full episode go here:

Today is and if there’s one thing you learn today it’s this-
Refugees are migrants.
But not all migrants are refugees.
-
The word migrant has come to mean something different than its definition, but it’s important to use it with purpose. I have relocated many times in my life, I am not an expat, nor an asylum seeker or a refugee- I am a migrant.
-
Today I’m reading the book by The Refugees to understand more of the Vietnamese refugee story in preparation for upcoming documentary interviews.
