Thursday morning thought:
In Lukes gospel chapter 22 verses 1-2 it reads “Now the Feast of Unleavened Bread drew near, which is called the Passover. 2 And the chief priests and the scribes were seeking how to put him to death, for they feared the people”. It would have been about this time in the Easter story, as we call it, that Jesus performed the greatest miracle in biblical history and resurrected Lazarus from the dead. Other people had been raised from the dead in biblical times but not after they had began to decompose. So people claimed those people were just semicomotose, so Jesus gave people solid proof of resurrection from the dead and the resurrection to come. Since the crowds following Jesus were quite large and growing, and the resurrection of Lazarus, they decided they needed to do away with Jesus. The Jewish leaders were afraid to lose their religious status and wanted a messiah that served their needs, kind of like religions still do today. We struggle with the true concept of a Jesus who does not necessarily fit into our beliefs. As we enter into the holy week let us focus on the true Messiah, not the one that we wish that was.
If you do not have a church home we worship from 21:00- noon on Sunday and would love ove to have you join us.
