“In June and December of 1989, some amazing music went down in two American cities on opposite coasts, New York and Los Angeles. It grew out of my idea of recording an album which would center around my new concept (at the time) of using an electric trio to document my 'sound.' This album is the result of that collaboration.” — Dennis Gonzalez

“Rudolf Serkin (1903-1991) was one of the great Beethoven exponents of the 20th century. Donal Henahan wrote of a performance given by Serkin of the Diabelli in the NY Times:

"Rudolf Serkin's … approach to music and his instrument is devout, all but priestly, and his audience attends to him with the seriousness of a congregation that expects nothing less than high revelation. Nor does Mr. Serkin disappoint them…”

"Sneak Peek of the Week"
The Shelest Piano Duo on stage July 11!

Praised for their “stirring performances of rare repertory” (Fanfare Magazine), Shelest Piano Duo is a husband-and-wife team of ANNA AND DMITRI SHELEST who trace their roots to the music school in Ukraine. At their official Carnegie Hall debut in February 2018, their CD-release of Ukrainian Rhapsody brought the renewed attention to the music of their homeland. The duo, who met as classmates in middle school, began performing together after their marriage in the U.S. Their inventive programs brought them to a broad array of venues from concert stages to state functions and, in words of Secretary-General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon, “realized diplomacy through music.”

Stay tuned for ticketing details for this performance and be sure to check adirondackarts.org for more of what’s coming!
