يسعدنا أن نُرحّب بوفد من مؤتمر "تطبيقات تقنية XRF المحمولة في دراسة التراث والآثار المصرية"، الذي يضم نخبة من الباحثين والمتخصصين في مجالات الكيمياء، والآثار، وصيانة المواد الأثرية.
قام الوفد بزيارة قسم الحفاظ والضبط البيئي التابع لإدارة مركز ومتحف المخطوطات بقطاع التواصل الثقافي في مكتبة الإسكندرية، حيث قدّم الدكتور حسام الديب، رئيس القسم، محاضرة تعريفية حول أنشطة القسم، وشرح آليات المعالجة الكيميائية والميكروبيولوجية للكتب والمخطوطات والوثائق الأثرية، مع عرضٍ عملي يوضّح طرق الحفظ الوقائي داخل المعامل.
تأتي هذه الزيارة بالتزامن مع فعاليات المؤتمر، الذي أُقيم يوم الأربعاء 8 أكتوبر 2025 بمكتبة الإسكندرية، بتنظيم مشترك بين مركز ومتحف المخطوطات ومركز الدراسات السكندرية (CEAlex).
افتُتحت الجلسات بكلمات ترحيبية من الدكتور مدحت عيسى، مدير مركز ومتحف المخطوطات، والسيد توماس فوشر، مدير مركز الدراسات السكندرية، تلتها سلسلة من المحاضرات العلمية تناولت أحدث الأبحاث في استخدام أجهزة XRF المحمولة في تحليل المعادن والفخار والتماثيل والمواد الأثرية دون إتلافها.
وتنوّعت أوراق العمل المقدَّمة بين دراسات تحليلية على التماثيل البرونزية للإله أوزيريس، والقطع المعدنية الرومانية من كوم الدكة، وأبحاث تتبّع مصادر الفخار الفاطمي والمملوكي باستخدام تقنيات XRF الحديثة. كما تطرّقت إحدى الجلسات إلى دراسة الألوان والأصباغ على النقوش الصخرية بأسوان، وأخرى إلى تحليل اللوحات الجنائزية المصرية القديمة، في عرض علمي متكامل يجمع بين الأثر والتكنولوجيا.
We were pleased to welcome a delegation from the conference “Portable XRF for Heritage and Archaeology in Egypt”
The delegation included researchers and specialists in chemistry, archaeology, and conservation of cultural materials, who visited the Preservation and Environmental Monitoring Section at the Manuscripts Center and Museum, Bibliotheca Alexandrina.
During the visit, Dr. Hossam El-Deeb, Head of the Section, gave an overview of the section’s work and explained the chemical and microbiological methods used in preserving books, manuscripts, and historical documents. The visit also featured a live demonstration of preventive conservation techniques in the labs.
The visit took place alongside the conference, held on Wednesday, 8 October 2025, and jointly organized by the Manuscripts Center and Museum and the Centre d’Études Alexandrines (CEAlex).
The sessions opened with welcoming remarks from Dr. Medhat Issa, Director of the Manuscripts Center and Museum, and Mr. Thomas Faucher, Director of CEAlex. The program included scientific presentations showcasing the latest research on using portable XRF devices to analyze archaeological materials—such as metals, pottery, and statues—without causing damage.
Research topics included the study of bronze statues of Osiris, Roman metal artifacts from Kom El-Dikka, and the origins of Fatimid and Mamluk pottery. Other sessions explored pigments and colors on rock inscriptions in Aswan and the analysis of ancient Egyptian funerary panels, combining science and heritage in an inspiring exchange of knowledge.
