نحن فخورون بأن تكون ميّ زايد، مؤسِّسة كليو ميديا، جزءًا من النسخة الثانية من برنامج الإرشاد المستقبلي الذي ينظمه مهرجان دربن السينمائي الدولي Durban FilmMart SA بالتعاون مع DW Akademie وBerlinale Talents.

ويهدف البرنامج إلى تدريب ودعم المرشدين والمرشدات في مختلف أنحاء القارة الأفريقية، لمساعدتهم/ن على تقديم الدعم والتوجيه لصانعي وصانعات الأفلام أثناء بناء مسيرتهم/ن المهنية، مع تعزيز التعلم المتبادل وتبادل الخبرات. وقد ركّزت هذه النسخة بشكل أساسي على شمال أفريقيا واستضافتها Doc House في تونس

ورغم التحديات المتعلقة بالتأشيرة التي حالت دون انضمام ميّ شخصيًا، إلا أنها شاركت بشكل كامل مع المشاركين والمشاركات من خلال جلسات مختلطة بين الحضور الشخصي والاتصال عبر الإنترنت، لضمان تبادل مثمر للأفكار والخبرات

We’re thrilled to share that Cléo Media’s founder, Mayye Zayed, took part as one of the trainers in the second edition of the Future Mentors Programme by the Durban FilmMart SA which is an initiative created in partnership with DW Akademie and Berlinale Talents.

The programme aims to train and foster mentors across the African continent, helping them support emerging filmmakers as they build their careers while encouraging mutual learning and exchange. This edition focused mainly on North Africa and was hosted in Tunisia by Doc House.

Although visa challenges prevented Mayye from joining the sessions in person, she stayed fully engaged with the participants through a mix of online and in-person sessions, ensuring a meaningful exchange of ideas and experiences.

أخبار حلوة من برنامج مواهب دربان Talents Durban 2025! 🎉

ألف مبروك للمخرجة شفاء هندركس من جنوب أفريقيا على فوزها بجائزة Wrapped Talents Durban Prize عن pitch فيلمها القصير "Trucker Man" 👏 👏 👏

وكمان كل التحية للمخرجين التانيين:
- أجوجو تيجا أونوبراكبيا من نيجيريا وفيلمها القصير "Butterflies"
- ملكامو هايلي من إثيوبيا وفيلمه الروائي الطويل "3.8"

التلاتة قدموا أول pitch ليهم في مهرجان دربن السينمائي الدولي، واحنا فخورين جدًا بكل خطوة خدوها.

وكان شرف كبير لينا إننا نكون جزء من رحلتهم خلال الشهرين اللي فاتوا ونساعدهم في تطوير مشاريعهم السينمائية الأولى.

Our mentee Shiefaa Hendricks (South Africa) has been awarded the Wrapped Talents Durban Prize for her captivating pitch of the short film “Trucker Man.” 👏 👏 👏

A huge shoutout also goes to our other incredible mentees:
- Aghogho Tega Onobrakpeya (Nigeria) with her short film “Butterflies”
- Melkamu Haile (Ethiopia) with his narrative feature “3.8”

All three delivered their first-ever public pitches at Durban FilmMart SA, and we couldn’t be prouder.

It’s been an honour to mentor these rising talents over the past two months and see them bring their stories to life.

إحنا فخورين إننا شاركنا في برنامج Talents Durban السنة دي، وهو برنامج تدريبي بيدعم صانعات وصناع الأفلام الشباب من إفريقيا.

والبرنامج تابع لمهرجان برلين السينمائي الدولي، وواحد من ست برامج ال Talents حول العالم اللي بينظمها Berlinale Talents، وبينظمه مهرجان ديربان السينمائي الدولي بجنوب أفريقيا.

مؤسسة شركتنا ميّْ زايد كان لها الشرف إنها تدرب ٣ مشاريع موهوبة جدًا، وكمان قدّمت محاضرة عن تحديات صناعة الأفلام قصيرة بعنوان:
"It Looked Better in My Head: Building Short Film Sandcastles"

ورغم إننا مقدرناش نحضر في ديربان السنة دي، إلا إننا قلبًا وقالبًا مع:
Shiefaa Hendricks (جنوب أفريقيا), Melkamu Haile (إثيوبيا), and Aghogho Tega Onobrakpeya (نيجيريا)
وهم بيقدموا أول pitch ليهم قدام جمهور المهرجان. ولو أنتم في Durban FilmMart، ياريت تتواصلوا معاهم وتسمعوا أفكارهم.

We're proud to have been part of this year’s Talents Durban, the prestigious development programme that supports rising African filmmakers.

Talents Durban, founded by the Berlinale - Berlin International Film Festival, is one of 6 global Talents programs managed by Berlinale Talents and is now hosted by the Durban FilmMart SA.

This year, our founder, Mayye Zayed, had the honour of mentoring 3 bold, fresh cinematic voices and delivering a talk titled:
“It Looked Better in My Head: Building Short Film Sandcastles”—a personal reflection on the creative chaos behind short filmmaking.

Though we couldn't be there in person, our hearts are with these incredible mentees as they make their first public pitch at the festival: Shiefaa Hendricks (South Africa), Melkamu Haile (Ethiopia), and Aghogho Tega Onobrakpeya (Nigeria).
