2016 was the beginning of my journey in the field of voice... I didn't quite have a solid plan on how it'll go, how it'll progress and what I'm going to achieve.. Which basically reinforces my personal belief that none of us really has a "master plan".
Don't get me wrong, this doesn't mean I am against planning!
However -to me- it means that we're all a bunch of energies embodied in a vessle, which is our bodies... Our energies resonate with our dreams, endeavours, passion, actions, challenges, achievements and downfalls.
A "master plan" has never existed for me, yet what existed was my passion, feelings, and persistence to learn and achieve more...
So, what does this have to do with the photo I'm sharing?
This photo is going to be a remarkable memory for me! I took it as I was enjoying the opportunity of becoming one of the judges for the Society of Voice Arts and Sciences and the Voice Arts Awards this year - 2024.
Listening to many of the applicants' work so far, made me reflect on my journey and how I got here.. Since 2016, I have had quite the experience in the field of voice, which for me, was a strongly-backed justification for my capability of being a judge this year.
Ever since 2016, I have:
- Voiced projects of almost all genres in Egyptian Colloquial Arabic, Modern Standard Arabic and English, in Egypt, MENA and for international clients.
- Taught myself audio engineering to become very proficient at it which widened my skillset and benefited me until this day. Fortuntely because of this effort, I am able to record, edit, mix and also analyse/QC external projects technically, creatively and functionally.
- Written copies for hundreds of projects for my clients in Arabic and English.
- Directed more than a 1000 project, either as a project manager, a producer or a creative director.
- Started my own company 5 years ago, and transitioned from a home studio to having a professional studio that is capable of delivering world-class quality.
- Personally and directly coached and trained aspiring voice talents in the different genres of voice acting and voice overs.
Yet, after all the above experiences, if I go back in time, I would have never thought that one day I'd apply to become a judge or that I'd be judging other people's work. This opportunity has not only opened my eyes to the beauty in people's aspirations and talent, but it has also further ignited my passion for this industry.
I may be a judge this year... and I am lucky to be one! ❤️
But I still learn from each applicant's effort... and I believe that learning doesn't have a finish line...
No matter how much experience we have obtained, we'll still discover that we've got more to learn.
Thank you all for this honour. and for those who have believed in my abilities.
