DAB is opening its doors for the new batch of Volunteer Translators/Researchers for the period from November-February 2023!

Job Description:

- Help in managing Dialogue Across Borders (DAB) - previously AWR - Database (the largest NGO database in Egypt with 55k+ articles and papers on intercultural dialogue and other interesting topics).
- Translating reviews/articles on issues related to Intercultural Dialogue and Peacebuilding.
- Helping in promoting CAWU's events and publications locally and internationally.

Essential Qualifications:

- Bachelor in a related field (Political Science, Economics, Translation, Humanities, ..etc)
- Experience in doing desk research, translation from Arabic to English, and writing articles/reviews on certain topics.
- Commitment and willingness to help a well-established NGO in benefitting scholars, students, and peacemakers.
- Respect for deadlines put by the line manager to translate/write articles/reviews/papers.

- Recommendation letters will be provided by the end of the internship period.

CAWU 2020 Summer School: Muslims and Christians Building the Future of Egypt

WHY EGYPT?

Egypt is a country with a great history in Muslim-Christian relations, and where many excellent initiatives are taking place in the field of intercultural dialogue. The Center for Arab-West Understanding has built, following the building of the Electronic Network for Arab-West Understanding -launched by
HRH Prince El-Hassan bin-Talal of Jordan in 2008- a very large electronic English language database about the role of religion in the wider context of contemporary Egypt and other Arab countries.

WHAT ABOUT THE SUMMER SCHOOL?

The Center for Arab-West Understanding (CAWU) has been organizing summer schools since 2018, to promote intercultural dialogue and tolerance among young enthusiastic people in the region. This year -as the Coronavirus pandemic is getting people together around the world- the summer webinar will focus on the Christian-Muslim relations in Egypt. It mainly invites those who have a significant interest in the future of Christian-Muslim relations in
Egypt, and in the Middle East, and are ready to be prepared to become Ambassadors for Dialogue, promoting the common good on social media and in other venues.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR?

We are seeking Muslims and Christians who want to think seriously and creatively about interfaith relations for a prosperous future for Egypt and other countries in the region. Our summer webinar will be facilitated by experts in Muslim-Christian dialogue from the participating institutions.

The main language of this webinar is English. So, we need participants to be fluent in English. Also, ALL participants must be committed throughout the webinar and enthusiastic about interfaith and intercultural dialogue.

** Due to COVID-19, this summer school will be online and will become a “webinar”.
