The Caravan is the student produced newspaper of the American University in Cairo. The paper is staffed entirely by students, and all editorial decisions are taken by students. The paper is funded by the Journalism and Mass Communication (JRMC) department, but it maintains complete editorial independence. The paper tries to maintain a good balance of AUC related stories, and stories which reflect t
he issues and challenges facing Egypt at large. The paper welcomes contributions from all members of the AUC community, whether students, faculty, staff or alumni. Higher editorial positions in the Caravan are usually occupied by students in the school of journalism who have, mostly, interned at prominent newspapers and media channels like Al Jazeera, BBC and The Daily News Egypt. The Caravan is registered as an Egyptian newspaper that complies fully with Egyptian publication law.
