Welcome to the Adham Center for Television and Digital Journalism in the School of Global Affairs and Public Policy at the American University in Cairo, where we believe in an exceptional and unconventional academic and professional educational experience. Ever since its founding in 1986, the Adham Center has had a significant impact on the cultural and media landscape and gained local, regional, and global recognition. The Adham Center’s ability to maintain this outstanding reputation is a testament to the strength of its academic model, and also to the skills, dedication, and motivation of its faculty, management team, as well as the center’s workforce, responsible for the high standards of efficiency and performance.
The Adham Center endeavors to expand knowledge in the field of media and communications through scholarship. The center publishes the online journal Arab Media & Society, a forum for academics and journalists to publish research, analysis, and commentary in the field of Arab media.
The center’s state-of-the-art facilities include broadcast-quality television studios attached to an automated teaching newsroom, operating on the Associated Press’s ENPS platform, thus duplicating the workflow of professional television operations. Other resources include two video editing labs and the latest in digital field cameras.
Students and staff of the center operate AUC TV, an in-house television channel featuring student programming and live coverage of on-campus events.
