Subject: Closure of What's up Youth "WupY"

Dear WupY Community,

Over the past 15 years, we have worked together to enhance our communities, both in Egypt and beyond, with the goal of improving the lives of young people. Alongside our partners, supporters, followers, and the entire WupY family, we have successfully executed impactful projects, conducted meaningful campaigns, and supported various youth endeavors. We take immense pride in our accomplishments and the positive influence we have had on countless young lives.

However, the time has come to announce the permanent closure of What's up Youth "WupY" due to prevailing circumstances. This past year has presented significant challenges to us and our close-knit WupY family, making it increasingly difficult for us to sustain our operations. Regrettably, we have been unable to maintain the necessary workflow to continue making our intended impact.

On September 27th, 2023, WupY will cease its operations. Please understand that this decision was not reached lightly, and we want to assure you that we thoroughly explored all avenues to find a way forward. Other subsidiaries of WupY will also shut down over the coming months.

Throughout the years, our extended WupY family, including partners, supporters, followers, friends, and dedicated volunteers, has provided us with invaluable support. To all of you, we express our heartfelt gratitude. Our achievements would not have been possible without your unwavering dedication.

While this chapter comes to a close, we look toward the future with optimism. With your determination and the continuation of your remarkable efforts, our society is poised to flourish.

Today is ! This week meet our amazing STEM high school alumni: Mai, Mariam, Dina, and Gehad. These proud pioneered an innovative approach to climate-smart agriculture that uses artificial intelligence to determine how much water plants need. Check out their story in this video.
Since 2011, USAID and the Ministry of Education and Technical Education have partnered to establish 19 STEM high schools where students are developing innovative projects to solve Egypt's grand challenges.

Food waste is a serious climate issue – with discarded food accounting for as much as 8 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions. The USAID-supported startup FreshSource is using technology to transform the way fresh goods are sourced, moved, and sold which could be a game changer for Egypt. Minimizing food waste ➡️ reduced harmful emissions ➡️ a greener and more sustainable planet.

In support of Egypt's green transformation, USAID fosters innovation and entrepreneurship through collaborations with the private sector, training, mentorship, and building unique ecosystems that connect startups with leading investment firms.
