What do we mean by creative industries?
Creative industries refer to economic sectors that primarily rely on individual creativity and talent in the production and distribution of goods and services. These industries encompass a wide range of sectors that depend on innovation in production and marketing processes, such as visual arts, literature and publishing, cinema and television, electronic games, design, music and singing, handicrafts, and live performances. Creative industries play a significant role in modern economies, contributing to the generation of wealth, the provision of employment opportunities, and the enhancement of economic and cultural development. They are considered a vital part of the global economy, contributing to economic and cultural development and fostering innovation and creativity in societies.
The State Ministry for Digital, Cultural, Media, and Sports Affairs in the United Kingdom defines creative industries as "industries that rely on individual creativity, human talent, and produce goods and services based on intellectual property and cultural value."
The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) defines creative industries as those goods and services that use creativity and intellectual capital as primary inputs, including four groups: cultural heritage, arts, media, and functional creations.
Creative industries are recognized as an important part of the global economy, and countries are making significant efforts to promote them as drivers of economic growth, innovation, and economic development.
