Some dates are chosen.
And others seem to arrive at just the right moment.

I wanted to entrust September 27, in the month in which I was born, with a particularly important milestone for me. Day and month, in different ways, share the same symbolic meaning: completion, knowledge, transformation. The end of one cycle already carrying within it the beginning of a new journey. ✨🌍🪶

A journey through millennia of history, myth, science and symbolism, following the traces of the ibis and Thoth from ancient Egypt to the questions that still accompany us today.

✨ And it will not simply be a translation: the English edition includes new material and further insights from my research, which will soon also become part of the second Italian edition of Alla ricerca di Thot. 🇮🇹📚

Perhaps it is no coincidence that this new journey begins in my birth month, on a day that, for me, carries the symbolism of nine: completion, knowledge and passage.

This September, “Alla ricerca di Thot – L’Ibis sacro tra mito, storia e scienza” takes an important step beyond its original Italian edition with the publication on Amazon of its English-language edition:

🌍 More than simply a new language edition, this publication represents a further stage in a research journey devoted to exploring the relationship between Nature, symbolism, and knowledge, now opening that inquiry to an international readership.

At the heart of the book lies a fundamental premise: “alchemy is, first and foremost, a science of Nature.”

🌿 Ancient civilizations lived in close relationship with the rhythms and cycles of the natural world. Through careful observation, they learned to recognize its laws, proportions, patterns, and transformations.

From this perspective, my research begins with the living ibis and leads toward Thoth, asking whether this ancient symbol may have originated not merely in imagination, but in a profound and systematic observation of Nature itself.

🪶 The ibis therefore becomes a “living text to be read”. Thoth, in turn, embodies the capacity to interpret the language of Nature: to recognize its laws, measures, cycles, and transformations without separating knowledge from the natural world from which it arises.

The book follows this inquiry through myth, history, science, and symbolism, tracing correspondences and recurring patterns across different cultures and civilizations.

THE IBIS IN THE EARLIEST HUMAN REPRESENTATIONS

When we think of the ibis, we immediately think of Thoth, the Egyptian god of wisdom, writing, and knowledge.

But what if the story is far older?

In this chapter, I followed the traces of the ibis through some of Africa’s most extraordinary rock art sites: from Tassili n’Ajjer in Algeria to the Drakensberg Mountains of South Africa, from the ancient paintings of Namibia to the sacred sites of the Horn of Africa.

Among shamans, human-bird hybrid figures, rain rituals, and landscapes that have long since vanished, a remarkable symbol emerges: the bird as a mediator between earth and sky, between the visible and the invisible worlds.

Could some of the symbolic characteristics later associated with Thoth’s ibis have their roots in traditions far older than Pharaonic Egypt?

A journey into humanity’s most ancient memory, where the flight of birds becomes a sacred language and a bridge between worlds.
