في الفيوم حيث يلتقي النيل بالصحراء، كان "سوبك" يراقب ، كانت عينه لا تنام..
شرس، لكنه عادل... كان يحكم المياه ويمنحها لمن يستحق.
هو حامي الجند، ومرعب الأعداء، وجالب الخصوبة للأرض.
سوبك، سيد المياه، لم يكن مجرد تمساح... بل قوة لا تُقهَر
سوبك... ليس فقط سيد الماء، بل هو طوفان القوة الغاضب إذا اقترب أحد من أرضه.
وكان من يراه في الحلم، يُقال إنه سيكون له شأن عظيم...

In Fayoum, where the Nile meets the desert, Sobek was watching. His eye never slept.
Fierce, yet just... he ruled the waters and granted them only to the worthy.
Protector of soldiers, terror of enemies, and bringer of fertility to the land.
Sobek, Lord of the Waters, was not just a crocodile... but an unstoppable force.
Sobek... not merely master of the water, but a raging flood of power if anyone dared approach his land.
And it is said... those who see him in dreams are destined for greatness.

🖋️ The Papyrus of Hunefer – British Museum, London
A glimpse into ancient Egyptian beliefs about the afterlife.
In this powerful scene (~1275 BC), the scribe Hunefer’s soul is tested in the Hall of Judgment.
🔸 Anubis, the jackal-headed god, weighs his heart against the Feather of Ma’at (truth).
🔸 Thoth, the ibis-headed scribe of the gods, records the result.
🔸 The fearsome Ammit—part crocodile, lion, and hippopotamus—waits to devour the unworthy.
If Hunefer’s heart is lighter than the feather, he is granted eternal life.
One of the most iconic vignettes from the Book of the Dead.
Preserved at the British Museum.

There’s something special about waking up in the middle of the desert — just you, the sunrise, and the sound of birds calling over Magic Lake and Lake Qarun in Fayoum.

Grouunding on sand was cool under feet, the air smelled like brewed coffee and campfire smoke, and our dog and cat stretched out beside the tent, soaking it all in.
Dozens of birds flew overhead, No noise. No rush. Just golden light and desert silence.

If you’ve never watched the sun rise over Fayoum with a hot drink in hand and nothing but silence around you — it’s time.

Medinet Madi Narmouthis
Considered to be the most important ancient site in the Fayoum during the Middle Kingdom (2280-1778 BC) to Greco-Roman(332BC-323AD). Located on a small hill commanding a strategic position guarding the southwestern entrance to the Fayoum, the site was probably occupied in prehistory. The city was known as Narmouthis during the GraecoRoman period .
