Every year on 9th August we mark the International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples. This year’s theme is COVID-19 and indigenous peoples’ resilience. We take time to celebrate and recognize the resilience of the Indigenous people and efforts to fight COVID 19.
While the exact origins of COVID-19 have not yet been confirmed, the link between environmental damage and pandemics is well known to leading research organizations. Thanks to their traditional knowledge and their relationship with the natural world, Indigenous people in Africa and the world have long known that the degradation of the environment has the potential to unleash disease.
As we fight against the spread of the pandemic, it is more important than ever to safeguard indigenous peoples and their knowledge. Their territories are home to 80% of the world’s biodiversity and they can teach us much about how to rebalance our relationship with nature and reduce the risk of future pandemics.
Indigenous peoples are seeking their own solutions to this pandemic. They are taking action and using traditional knowledge and practices such as voluntary isolation and sealing off their territories, as well as preventive measures.
Once again they have shown their capability to adapt. Through this year’s theme the events on the International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples we take time to celebrate their resilience and strength in the face of the pandemic.

Global conflicts are increasingly complex, so we must be increasingly creative in building peace. Transforming relationships, societal behavior, and attitudes are at the core of preventing and ending violent conflict. Media and the arts, because of the way they engage our minds, emotions, and brains, have the potential to positively affect social and political change, heal broken lives, preserve identities, counter violent extremism, and humanize conflict.

When applied strategically, the interplay of media and the arts can help create a space for people affected by violence and conflict to express themselves and share their stories; this in turn leads to healing and reconciliation, as well as creative dialogue on platforms such as theater, film, music, visual art, and online media.

1. PHOTOGRAPHY.
Is both skill and talent.
A photographer have their ability by having an eye for composition. Some photographers might have developed a skill set that allows them utilize their cameras to it’s fullest potential.

I believe their is a strong line exists between artistic talent and technical skill when it comes to photography. The skills, we are speaking of the ability to control the aperture, shutter speed, ISO, white balance, etc. of a camera. Indeed, the ability and knowledge of how to manipulate a camera.

2. VIDEOGRAPHY
You can shot and edit videos. As soon as you identify your subject, you need to have a full-time expert.
A. Invest in gear. The difference between pro and amateur is noticeable. This involves buying and upgrading the equipments used such as cameras, Microphones, Lights etc.
B. Enhance your shooting skills just to produce a good quality video.
C. Pay attention to audio. The way a video sounds is every bit as important as how it looks. Audiences are sophisticated and if it sounds amateurish, you don’t give them an opportunity to pay attention.

3. GRAPHIC DESIGNING
Be a master of Photoshop, Illustrator & InDesign. If you are not a master (or plan to become a master) of Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, you should probably start now.
It is an essential skill to create your own graphic design and there is no way to avoid it either.

4. INVESTING IN TRAINING YOURSELF
"IM BROKE"😂
This Statement only comes from a person who has got no skill at hand
“Build your own dreams or someone else will hire you to build theirs"

You see graduates roaming the streets looking for jobs while some of their SMART colleagues are employing people. The difference is in what they did and invested time, energy and money on.

Skills can make you get alot of money in few weeks. So are you going to sit down there and allow such opportunity pass you by because you didnt want to pay to train?
The bottom line, invest your time, money in training yourself.

*CALL FOR APPLICANTS*

We invite aspiring women, trans or gender-nonconforming candidates to apply to our Gender Justice Legal Defenders Fellowship, which is open to human rights defenders and lawyers under the age of 40 from all regions and all countries who are accompanying survivors of sexual and gender-based violence on their quest for justice and who can demonstrate a commitment to advancing human rights and equal access to justice.

This is a paid opportunity to take on a sexual based violence or discrimination case with mentorship and support from an expert human rights lawyer. Fellows will identify a specific case of sexual based violence or discrimination and then execute a chosen intervention towards justice, reparations and accountability.

We prioritise cases involving survivors from under-represented and under-resourced communities who are rendered vulnerable by intersecting inequalities, especially women and girls with disabilities, women and girls of colour, LGBTQIA2S+ individuals, afro-descendant, indigenous and immigrant women and girls, as well as those living in urban slum areas, rural areas, refugee camps, occupied territories and in conflict-affected settings.

Good evening
Lets continue where we stopped yesterday
Category 1. Learning Skills

The four C’s are by far the most popular skills
More educators know about these skills because they’re universal needs for any career. They also vary in terms of importance, depending on an individual’s career aspirations.

1. Critical thinking: Finding solutions to problems
2. Creativity: Thinking outside the box
3. Collaboration: Working with others
4. Communication: Talking to others

1. CRITICAL THINKING is the most important quality for someone to have in health sciences.
Critical thinking is essential to improvement. It’s the mechanism that weeds out problems and replaces them with fruitful endeavors.

2. CREATIVITY is equally important as a means of adaptation. This skill empowers you to see concepts in a different light, which leads to innovation.
Learning creativity as a skill requires someone to understand that “the way things have always been done” maybe in the past— but that has to change.

3. COLLABORATION means getting to work together, achieve compromises, and get the best possible results from solving a problem.
It can be difficult sometimes but once it’s mastered, it leads to success

The key element to this is 'willingness' hencs participants have to sacrifice parts of their own ideas and adopt the better results.
Understanding the idea of a “greater good,” which in this case tends to be success.

4. COMMUNICATION is the glue that brings all qualities together required to maintain profitability. It’s crucial for you to learn how to effectively convey ideas among different personality types.
Effective communication is an underrated soft skills,
DONT TAKE IT FOR GRANTED.
But when we communicate poorly, whole projects fall apart. No one can clearly see the objectives they want to achieve. No one can take responsibility because nobody’s claimed it.

Without communication, you lack a pivotal skill to progress your careers

Lets meet tomorrow for another part.
Stay safe.
