Si viste el Mundial este año, escucharás el trabajo de Camilo Lara en el tema oficial de los partidos que se disputan en Ciudad de México.
Pero también está detrás de un proyecto muy diferente para escuchar este verano: Ruido Tovar, un homenaje a la cumbia mexicana de los años 70, compuesto junto a Eblis Álvarez, de Meridian Brothers, e incluso con alguna estrofa de Beck.
El resultado es un viaje de guitarras con twang, teclados poco convencionales y sintetizadores psicodélicos que te hace sentir como si fueras en un destartalado carrito recorriendo unas vías irregulares. Es inevitable que el trayecto se descontrole por momentos, pero precisamente ese caos hace que la experiencia sea absolutamente emocionante.

But he's also behind a very different project to listen to this summer: Ruido Tovar, a homage to 1970s Mexican cumbia written with Eblis Álvarez of MERIDIAN BROTHERS, and with the odd Beck verse thrown in. The result is a ride of twangy guitars, offbeat keys and psyched up synths that feels like you're on a rickety card whizzing along uneven tracks. You're bound to veer off, but the chaos of the journey is absolutely thrilling. "It's fun, weird and unexpected. I love it!" he tells us. Ruido Tovar is out now via Ansonia Records — and Camilo (aka Mexican Institute Of Sound) will play London's The Jazz Cafe in September.
