The simplicity of the service and the powerful flavour of Canarian recipes create an experience that can only be found in certain places that retain their soul. And it's precisely this authenticity that has captivated one of the islands' most renowned chefs.
The establishment that has caught the attention of chef Juan Carlos Padrón, of the Michelin-starred restaurant El Rincón de Juan Carlos, is none other than a 100% traditional guachinche located in the south of Tenerife: Bodegon guachinche Cas Toñito.
Located in Valle San Lorenzo, this restaurant preserves the appearance of the guachinches of yesteryear: simple, welcoming and dedicated to offering homemade Canarian food with quality products and generous portions.
The menu ranges from classic starters like grilled cheese, croquettes, and escaldón to more substantial dishes like honey-baked pork ribs, Iberian pork secret, cod with onions, and ropa vieja. It also serves local wines from independent winemakers.
For dessert, the most notable are the quesillo, the biscuit cake and the coffee dessert, all freshly made each day.
The place is cosy, accessible, and family-friendly, with high chairs, a terrace, a garden, good service, and ample free parking. The value for money is another strong point.
This guachinche has been recognised with a Solete award from the Repsol Guide is no coincidence. Its food reflects the essence of Canarian gastronomy, making it a favourite among food lovers, including chefs like Juan Carlos Padrón.
Un restaurante con sabor auténtico, recetas tradicionales y precios razonables que ha conquistado hasta a los paladares más exigentes
