The Platform for the Defence of Los Cristianos Bay has organised a public demonstration for Sunday, 21 June at 11:00 am. The aim is to express social opposition to the proposed expansion of the Los Cristianos port and to advocate for “a development model that respects the coastline, the natural environment, and the quality of life for local residents.”

Details of the March
The march will commence from the Los Cristianos Cultural Centre and will proceed through the main streets of the area, concluding at the Plaza de la Pescadora. Here, a manifesto in defence of the bay will be read aloud.

Key Demands
Among the key demands of the platform are:
– The protection of the beach
– The regeneration of Los Tarajales beach
– Opposition to the port expansion, under slogans such as “Beach Yes, Dock No.”

This call aims to unite citizens, social groups, community associations, environmental entities, and representatives from various sectors committed to protecting one of the most iconic locations in the municipality of Arona and southern Tenerife.

On Sunday, June 21, 2026, hundreds of residents will take to the streets in Los Cristianos to protest against the planned port expansions. La Laguna is set to host a grand salsa music festival on Saturday, 20 June, marking the inaugural European edition of “Sesiones Desde La Loma.” This celebrated musical event, rooted in Puerto Rico, has established itself as a leading digital platform for the promotion of contemporary salsa.

An accident today on the TF-1, southbound, resulted in the death of a man after his motorcycle left the road near Puertito de Güímar. The accident caused road closures and significant traffic jams, with queues stretching as far as Candelaria.

According to information provided by 112, the alert was received at 11:52 a.m., prompting the activation of a medical helicopter from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC), which landed on the highway. A medical ambulance and a basic life support ambulance also responded.

Upon arrival, the patient was found in cardiac arrest. Emergency teams performed resuscitation manoeuvres, but were ultimately unable to save his life.

A violent robbery in Los Cristianos has left an elderly British tourist fighting for his life. The incident occurred at the entrance of the Victoria Court II apartments when the victim and his wife were accosted by a robber.

According to police sources, the suspect violently assaulted the elderly English couple to steal their belongings. As a result of the struggle and the impact of the assault, the man fell heavily to the ground, landing on his back. The severe trauma and extreme stress caused the victim to go into cardiac arrest at the scene.

Witnesses to the incident immediately alerted emergency services. Ambulances from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) arrived at the scene, and paramedics were able to resuscitate the elderly man after performing advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for several minutes. Once stabilised, he was urgently transported to a hospital in critical condition.

Underwater Gardens, Europe's first amphibious regenerative park, which was to be built in Punta Blanca, in southern Tenerife, has been cancelled. The Taucho Ethnographic Days return for their 15th edition with a programme combining a guided route through the village, a craft exhibition, an open-air painting competition and the presentation of a book on the history of water in Adeje. The theme is the memory of water, and the events will take place on 19 and 20 June.

The programme begins on Friday 19 June at 7pm at the El Almácigo Cultural and Recreational Centre with the presentation of the book "Las Aguas de Adeje. Un oasis entre arideces (SS. XVI-XIX)" (The Waters of Adeje. An Oasis Among Arid Lands (16th–19th Centuries)) by historian Carmen Rosa Pérez Barrios, followed by a performance by Grupo Mesturao.

Saturday 20 June features the main programme of activities.
At 11am the guided route "La memoria del agua" [The Memory of Water] will begin, with re-enactments of customs and traditions at seven locations throughout Taucho, from Cueva Barranquito to Taucho Square. Participants include the Adeje Senior Citizens Association, Santa Ana Association, Imoque Cultural Association and local residents. Taucho plaza will also host a craft exhibition from 10am.

From 9am, the Adeje Senior Citizens Association will hold the 4th "Rincones de Taucho" [Corners of Taucho] Rapid Painting Competition. The event is open to participants of all ages and includes two categories: professional and amateur for those aged 16 and over, and children's and youth categories for participants aged between 6 and 15.
All artworks must be painted outdoors from life within the area designated by the jury. Registration is open until 18 June via email at [email protected]. First prize in the professional category is €800. The exhibition of works and prize-giving ceremony will take place at 5pm in Taucho Square.
