“Why me?”

It is the question everyone asks when their world shatters. But honestly? Why not you?

Nobody is immune to the worst case scenario. We go through life thinking that’s everyone else’s nightmare. “It won’t happen to me.”

Until it does.

People expect means you are shielded against tragedy.

Spoiler alert‼️ It doesn’t.

Bad things happen to good people every single day.

But here’s the real twist: You can be blessed IN SPITE of the trauma, not because you were spared from it.

Would we trade those silver linings to get our old lives back? Absolutely! Bye bi***es! 🤣

But we can’t change the past. So we choose to find blessings in where we are right now.

What’s a bittersweet blessing you have discovered in your new normal?

Grief changes the blueprint. Sometimes, it pushes us to become bolder, louder, or entirely different versions of ourselves. It’s a bittersweet blessing.

If you look at who you are today versus who you were before, what is one way you’ve changed for the better?

Let’s talk about the ‘after’ in the comments. ✨

When you lose your spouse, people want to know “the plan.” What’s next? Are you selling the house? Are you staying in Austin? Will you go back to work?

The truth is- we are operating at 50% capacity! Give yourself time. Take a breath!

Do you feel immense pressure to have it all figured out?

It is incredibly hard not to get trapped in one of two places: the past or the future.

But bouncing between the “what if” and “if only” is where the deepest suffering takes place.

Just get through the day. Or the hour or the minute.

The present moment is the only one we need to handle. ❤️‍🩹

I’m sitting here on my couch watching the Martin short documentary on Netflix. It’s called Marty: Life is Short. I had to pause when this scene came on and record it because I truly believe that there is a choice to be made. You don’t have to make it in the early days, but at some point, you will have to make a decision. How are you going to handle this loss?

Grief has a way of completely paralyzing you. If you sit in it too long, it can consume you.

Stagnation is the enemy. It perpetuates pain. You have to move- physically, mentally, emotionally- or you risk losing your life to the trauma.

If you are feeling stuck, frozen in your grief right now, you are not alone.

How do you find the strength to start moving again? What is a tiny step you can take? We will cheer you on. Let’s talk about it. ❤️

Dark humor! It saved all of us in those early days of widowhood. Actually, it still does today! Does humor show up for you in dark moments? Tell us the story! ❤️‍🩹

I just listened to Oprah interview Esther Perel on her podcast. She wrote “Mating in Captivity” 20 years ago and her ideas are still very relevant! I thought her advice was spot on for anyone in a relationship or looking for a relationship. We put so much pressure on finding the perfect person! Your person can’t fulfill every aspect of your life!
And don’t give up just because you’ve had some bad experiences!
What do you think?

Giving me a chance to talk about Hunter is an incredible gift. What about you? Do you want people to ask about the person that died? Do you get an opportunity to say their name?
