Instagram should not feel like a punishment.

And yet here we are... checking follower counts, comparing ourselves to accounts that have had a diff journey and have 10x the amountof followers, posting out of obligation and wondering why it all feels so bloody painful.

All you need is a few small mindset shifts and it genuinely starts to feel different. Dare I say, better.

My brand has a love story... and, luckily for me, and uncomplicated one.

I mean, I have since done more 'work' on it. But my name and the colours were as uncomplicated as this. And imagine it all happened on my sofa in front of Netflix.

10 years ago Instagram was a different place.

It was definitely not the place wedding pros got found.

Couples (me included) asked around and did a bit of Google'ing, at best!

That's all changed. If you're not here then you may not come up in that Google or AI search, you won't get tagged or collaborated with, and you won't have a place to show off your wicked wedding energy.

Story time...

Here’s me jumping on the 2016 trend but with a twist.

Because it's an [almost*] birthday share from then and now!

*the only photo I had was from January 23rd 2016. Turns out we didn’t back up as much back then.

Anywaaaaay...

In 2016 we’d just got married and were standing right at the start of some big life changes.

Fast forward ten years and we have two kids in tow, we’ve moved out of the familiarity of Barcelona city life, and I’ve started my own business.

And it’s fair to say that none of those things came without doubt, worry, or plenty of 'are we doing the right thing?' moments... thoughts that still regularly plague life and business.

Which is probably why communities like Mamas in Biz matter so much.

They are places where we can talk honestly about mum life, work, ambition, and all the messy bits in between, without pretending.

I wouldn’t be sharing this today if it wasn’t for Amy from nudging me to post for my birthday (twice 😉). I hesitated but I’m really glad of the nudge.

Mainly as it gave some great chat with my husband last night as we scrolled through old photos. But also because it gave us the chance to share some of those stories with our kids.

It was good to look back and realise just how much life can shift in a decade, especially when, back then, we had absolutely no idea this is where we’d end up.

So here’s to growth, messy middle years, big decisions, and communities that remind you to pause and celebrate yourself a little more.

Sometimes, there’s a bit of crossover between my steps, but that’s the flow.
And every single piece of content is shaped by strategy... we know who we’re talking to and what we want to say. And if that starts to feel off, it gets a revisit!

It’s a process. And with me, it’s a slick one.

I bailed on my content accountability buddy on Friday because I had mates in town (a good excuse, obviously). But I am now on the back foot.

But, like I said in my workshop on Thursday... finding a love for being here for your business is about having the RIGHT perspective. And not getting caught in a no content spiral. Here are some words copied and pasted right out of my workshop deck ⤵️

Not posting for a few days?
≠ failure
≠ laziness
≠ falling off the algorithm cliff

So I am taking my own advice. I'm not worried. I have blocked some time tomorrow, and I will repurpose something I have, and create from my content ideas list that is FULL.
