These recordings - with dense waves of dark ambient noise, slow brooding drone tones and subtle eroding death industrial textures - document moments when silence feels overwhelming and creation becomes the only way through.

"I create because I need to.. so the weight has somewhere to go.. so as not to destroy myself.. I create in response to the world around me and to what builds up internally - anger, sadness, grief, emotional fatigue, the quiet pressures that don’t always have a name.

Sound has always been the way I process those things."

There are long stretches when that ability disappears. The will to create isn’t there. Everything feels stalled, flattened, distant. During those periods, even listening feels difficult, and silence carries its own kind of weight. That stagnation can be as heavy as any noise.

Then there are moments when something opens again, and I can work. This album came from one of those periods—when the internal struggles felt close enough to touch, and I could finally articulate them through sound.

I wasn’t interested in force or confrontation. For me, this isn’t escapism or catharsis. It’s maintenance. A way to externalize what would otherwise stay trapped inside."

Marax began in the summer of 1998. After a year of experiments with sound, field recordings, and manipulated electronics, the first release, 'Feel Free….', emerged. Since then, the project has moved fluidly between harsh electronics, dark ambience, power electronics, and lo-fi textures, each release marking a different point on that spectrum.
