The magic of one of the world's greatest love stories returns to the Ópera de Oviedo, this time through the unique and celebrated vision of Italian stage director Giorgia Guerra.

Following her triumphant debut with "Ernani" in 2023, Guerra returns to the Ópera de Oviedo "very excited" with her version of Gounod's "Roméo et Juliette."

This acclaimed co-production, a joint effort by ABAO Bilbao Opera and Ópera de Oviedo, has already won over audiences in Bilbao and conquered the stage at the prestigious Teatro San Carlo in Naples.

Guerra confesses that this staging has "brought me a lot of joy," and its successful run allows her to "play much more with all the elements" of this popular story.

¡Ánimo Emmanuel Franco - Baritone!

Dear friends!
I have some unfortunate news to share.
Due to an injury during our pregeneral rehearsal, I’m now required by doctor’s orders to remain on absolute rest for the rest of the production period of Don Giovanni at Teatro de la Maestranza.

It totally breaks my heart 😔💔 to not be able to make my debut at this emblematic venue and perform along with my all wonderful colleagues, but in this case health comes first, so for now there will be a period of rest to continue later with all my season’s projects.

I want to deeply thank the general direction and the production direction team from for their incredible help and support, it has been an absolute pleasure to work with all of you this last month, and I’m sure that we’ll see each other again soon 🙏🏻❤️

As well, I want to thank to all my incredible colleagues who were pending of me and flooded me with messages and calls for whatever I needed ❤️ Special thanks to my dear for her time with me at the hospital 🙏🏻❤️❤️

Finally, I want to thank to my colleague for being able to jump in as Leporello and take over this huge challenge 🙏🏻❤️
I wish him all the best of the world and a huge success!

I’ll be taking a brake from social media for now to focus on my healing, but I’ll be back soon with exciting news!

Queridos amigos!
Tengo una mala noticia que compartir.
Debido a una lesión durante nuestro ensayo pregeneral, el médico me ha obligado a guardar reposo absoluto durante el resto de la producción de Don Giovanni en el Teatro de la Maestranza.

Me rompe el corazón 😔💔 no poder debutar en este emblemático recinto y actuar junto a mis maravillosos compañeros, pero en este caso la salud es lo primero, así que por ahora tendré un periodo de descanso para continuar con todos los proyectos de la temporada.

Quiero agradecer profundamente a la dirección general y al equipo de producción del Teatro de la Maestranza por su increíble ayuda y apoyo. Ha sido un placer trabajar con todos ustedes este último mes, y estoy seguro de que nos volveremos a ver pronto. 🙏🏻❤️

También quiero agradecer a todos mis increíbles colegas que estuvieron pendientes de mí y que me inundaron de mensajes y llamadas para lo que necesitara. ❤️
Un agradecimiento especial a mi querida Karen Gardeazabal por su tiempo conmigo en el hospital.

In bocca al lupo alla nostra Annalisa Stroppa, da stasera Charlotte nella nuova produzione di firmata da Rubén Szuchmacher e diretta da Ramón Tebar al Teatro Colón. Dopo avere debuttato la parte nel 2024 al Klangvokal Musikfestival di Dortmund e averla cantata successivamente anche al Teatro Comunale di Bologna, il mezzosoprano bresciano porta ora questo personaggio intenso e raffinato sul palcoscenico argentino il 24, 27, 29 agosto e il 2 settembre.


La prima di stasera 24 agosto (ore 22 CET) verrà trasmessa sul sito del Colón mentre la recita del 27 agosto sarà trasmessa in diretta su Abono Once Diez, radio ufficiale del teatro.

🌟 María José Montiel kicks off her annual return to the "Música en Compostela" International Courses this week! 🎶

The acclaimed Madrid-born mezzosoprano joins the 67th edition of these prestigious courses, a summer tradition in Santiago de Compostela unbroken since their founding in 1958. For decades, they’ve championed the preservation, study, and celebration of Spain’s musical heritage.
