Pollina • Sicily’s Sunset diaries • This is probably the most underrated place in the island. Not as popular as Palermo or Catania but the most beautiful and peaceful. The people here are amazing and so kind. Definitely a place I want to come back to.
It’s nice traveling around and kind of collecting different places to come to again in the years to come. I’m not going to lie, the 18 minute drive up the mountain to Pollina every.single.day weren’t always smooth. Sometimes my heart would drop to my stomach when we see wild boars 🐗 in the road (it happened three times) or I get motion sickness (basically everyday). The roads are also very steep it’s like driving into a pit. I thank my lucky stars my boyfriend is the best driver on Earth but I can’t help being just a little stressed by default every day. It got better though as I got used to it. The sense of community is incredible here. We greet Ciao to basically every human being we come by. Our place especially is in between two roads! So if I enter our place, I’m in the top floor and when I go downstairs (yes the rooms are downstairs, the entrance is upstairs) there’s another road! I couldn’t wrap my head around this for a solid week. So so so pretty, the waters are cerulean, the sunsets are majestic, cars are always almost breaking down, just the Italian aesthetic haha. Love!! 💓
