BIGGEST Beach party!⛱️🌊🍹🥳
One week today we celebrate the BIGGEST beach party of the year!

June 23rd is the Eve of San Juan & and it’s a BIG deal in these parts as these photos from last year show.

The locals head to their nearest beach at sunset to enjoy supper & a few drinks before heading into the waves at midnight.

It’s a fabulous, magical evening that dates back centuries and there are many rituals that accompany it; some people jump the waves & make a wish, others throw petals, but where I live in Alfaz del Pi it simply signifies the start of summer; the knowledge we’ve a couple of months of summer fun ahead of us and it’s absolutely lovely to see everyone you know, on the beach in Albir enjoying a picnic with friends and family.

So if you are going to be in or around Benidorm next week, grab a towel and some snacks and head to the beach at sunset, for a magical occasion!

☀️Temperatures Rising.. 😎
🌆Good morning from Benidorm!
It’s a FAB day & this week we’ll see a gradual increase in temperatures as we head properly into summer.

It’s also the last week of school for Spanish children; they finish on Friday for a whopping 11 weeks holiday, and by the weekend Benidorm will be packed with Spanish families here to enjoy lazy days & late summer nights…. ⛱️

I love the way Benidorm caters so effortlessly to so many different people, ages & nationalities! 😇

🌇Buenos días Benidorm!☀️🇪🇸

It’s a beautiful day and we have a fabulous week ahead and a busy one with the World Cup kicking off!

Although I have to say I can’t imagine the resort being any busier than it has been this weekend … Benidorm is absolutely PACKED!

🌇Busy start to summer season & Brit’s still rule! 🇬🇧🥳

Figures released by the Hotel Association HOSBEC yesterday revealed the fabulous news that May showed an increase of almost 4% in tourists to our region over last year, and leading the way was Valencia city with an incredible 91% occupancy!

In second place was Benidorm with 89% and of those figures a whopping 47% of all the tourists that came to Benidorm were Brits (see pie chart in images ‘Reino Unido’ is UK).

This data shows an excellent start to the summer season (‘summer’ in tourist terms runs from 1/5-31/10) and a consistent increase year on year in arrivals since March - an increase attributed (aside from the usual great climate and fair prices) to world wide unrest; tourists this year are shunning troubled destinations in favour of safe Spain 🇪🇸 😇🇪🇸😇🇪🇸😇

Three star accommodation is more popular than four star (and cheaper) and the data also revealed 83% occupancy ‘on the books’ for June; so if you’re planning on a last minute summer holiday to Spain this summer, you better get it booked pronto!

Jacket (might be) required… 🌦️
If you’re on your way over you may want to bring a cardigan… we’ve a an unsettled couple of days ahead… proving once more that the Spanish proverb which translates as ‘until the 40th of May (10th of June) don’t take off your shawl’ is spot on!

I’m not complaining though; we’ve plenty of baking hot days ahead to look forward to…🫣😅🥵🔥
